Post by Cannonball »

is the 1224 strictly an expasnion or Can I use the 1224 alone without using a core system like the 2408?

No. The 1224 is not a stand alone like the 2408. It needs the card.

Yes, but it won't work for OSX. For that, as I understand it, you'd need to "trade it in" to MOTU for a fee for the 424.

Ok...well I'm running windows xp and i'm having a problem here. I installed the pci 324 and i used drivers that i got off of the motu website because the ones that came with it were for windows 98 and they wouldn't work.

Nothing is working though. I open it up and i can't route anything. It says there are now inputs or outputs assigned and i can't get any audio out of the computer. what am i doing wrong here?

Sorry. Can't help you there. You need a Windows guy I suppose.

First thing, you need the March 26 drivers... The new drivers on MOTU's website didn't work for me either... I can probably help you get it up and running IF the unit is good... What Software are you using to record?

Did you install the drivers first, THEN install the card into the computer?

Also, you need to have ins and outs setup in the MOTU console BEFORE you even open your recording program...
AMD Sempron 2200+
GF MX4000 64 MB DDR Graphics Card
640 MB DDR333
200 GB HDD
80 GB HDD
2 MOTU 1224's
Sonar 3 Producer's Edition
Sonar 4.2 Producer's Edition
Tons of DX, VST, & RTAS plugins

If it's allright, I'm also interested in this. I'm awaiting my (used) MOTU 1224 w/ 324 PCI card, and am sticking around to pick up the particulars on installing and using this device. I figure it's more expedient for everyone concerned than starting a new thread and getting folks typing answers twice!

I understand:
-I need the drivers from the website (for XP Pro...)
-There's a procedure for set-up, concerning what order in which to do what: Like install drivers first, then physically install the 324, then configure I/O in the card's mixer.

That's what I got! Allright, I'll back off and let you guys continue! Pardon...
