Ultrlite Mk3 was working now not detected

Post by Ultrabra »

Yesterday I installed Ultralite Mk3, and no problems, it worked fine.

Today, I installed 2 things :
- Sonar 7
- USB driver for Yamaha Motif XS

After this, the Ultrlite did not show up again in the Audio Devices list. I tired re-installing but no change.

Can anyone point me the right direction to fix this problem?

I am using Windows XP Professional, and a brand new PC with more than enough processing power ...

Iuninsalled the Yamaha USB driver. Ultralite still not work. Then I unplugged the USB cable to the Yamaha. Then, the Ultralite worked again. Hmmmm. not sure of the logic of that ... nor am I sure how to proceed with getting my yamaha working ... does anyone know how I can check if there is an IRQ conflict?

I have similar gear. I'd guess this is a driver installation issue not something like IRQ conflict. The drivers, especially MOTU, seem pretty sensitive to doing things precisely as they say in terms of when to plug/unplug cables and power on/off and such both when installing and uninstalling. May be just did something not quite exactly in sequence?

Are you using ASIO? You cannot use ASIO on two different devices of different maker. You'll need WDM for that.

And what BG2007 said: I have to be fairly precise about turn on and off, boot or not to reboot and so on. Mostly I turn it on before the computer and off after shut down.

Thanks for your input...

Re the ASIO - funnily enough, I set Sonar up first using WDM, and I got clicks, pops etc. I changed to ASIO and it worked fine. But, that was before I tired re-installing the Yamaha drivers. I will take both your advaices, shut down and be real careful with the USB install. The Ultralite sure appears to be a sensitve beast, this is the second computer I am trying on, and I'm getting a bit weary now ... wish me luck, I will post back.

Agh ... I load the Yamaha driver again, carefully as possible with the Ultralite off. But what happens again, is that the Yamaha USB driver is installed, and the Ultralite is removed from the list of Hardware in Sounds & Audio Devices. Very frustrating.

Anyone any ideas how to fix?

I think I now fixed this by upgrading the drivers.
