Revert 8pre Firmware to version 1.0

Post by andreariderelli »

Hi all,

I try to write here since Motu Support does not respond at all to my TechLinks Issues (status unread...)

I had the infamous idea to upgrade the firmware of my 8pre from version 1.0 to the new 1.0.3 and the last FW Drivers (32fw-3.6.8.1400).

The result now is I can't use anymore 8pre on both my laptops (one running XP Pro SP3, the other running Vista Home Premium)

I tried to follow instruction on both these threads (http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=34558 - but here I tried with the 3.6.8.1400 because I haven't the Motu 3.6.8.1394 version of divers - and http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=31518) without success. No more continuous sounds. Only crackling noise etc.

I suspect my problems are related to the firmware. Do you know if is it possible to revert the firmware to the 1.0 version?

Any hint? There no need to inform you I am desperate!...

Thank you in advance for your support.

Cheers,

andrea "aliusmodum" riderelli (from rome)

Tech support at MOTU is almost non-existent. I had a technote request that was unread for more than two months before I decided to call tech support directly. There was no answer. The phone only rang and rang, and rang and rang,...

Then I call Customer service. I assume they answer that number because it means a sale of some sort, and my technote was answered in an afternoon but not until I had the guy on the phone tell me a bunch of unhelpful stuff I knew to be crap. I was looking for an earlier driver version that worked better with my system and they ultimately were unwilling to offer it. They wanted to walk me through an uninstall and re-install of the driver I DID NOT WANT. They have an Apple/Mac mentality of our way or no way that really does not work in the Windows world (hey even a Mac is now a PC) .

Best wishes, try customer support first

Hi Mark,

They did respond me yesterday but with absolutely useless information. Or, better, they told me it is impossible to revert Firmware to 1.0 version.

This means I have to throw away my 8pre (500$ wasted) and start looking for another audio interface... Not MOTU, sure!...

Any ideas?

Ciao,

andrea
