Help with connection to Yamaha 02R96...

Hi -- I currently have an 02R connected via two banks of ADAT optical to a 2048 MK III and a PC running Sonar 8...am upgrading the O2R to an 02R96, and wanted to get advice about the best way to connect...the 2408 literature claims 96K performance but apparently you need two ADAT lightpipe channels to accomplish. So, in order to get 24 simultaneous channels into/out of my PC, I would actually need two 2408 units, along with (I think) two 16 channel and two 8 channel ADAT interface cards (or could I use just 3 of the 16 channel Yamaha interface cards?).

On the other hand, a lot of the documentation seems to have been written 5 years ago and I was hoping that everything could just handle 96K in one channel now...the Yamaha boards are not cheap, and I'd rather not have to purchase another 2408 to get 24 channels of 96K digital I/O)...any suggestions?
