Latency problem with motu 828mk2 new driver

Post by bubba71 »

Hallo
My PC
Intel Core2 duo - e6700
Ram - 2 Gb OCZ dual channel 800 Mhz
Windows XP Home
Audio Software: Cubase 4.5.2
Audio board: MOTU 828mk2 FW
Samples buffer is 256

I have this problem: I download the latest drivers for my Motu hardware vers 3.6.8.1394 file name is 32FW-3.6.8.1.1394.
After install I open Cubase and read in the decice menu this values:
Latency In: 6,803 ms
Latency out: 11,746 ms

With the old drivers (Motu driver 3.6.7.3) in the Cubase devices setup I read this:
Latecy In: 6,8 ms
Latecy out 5,94 ms

The output latency is hight.
I installed windows and motu driver 2 times and twice I had the same result.... :x

I'm very confuse...
Someone had the same problem?
How can I solve this problem? Someone have a tips?...... or the ultimate driver release for 828mk2 doesn't work well?

Thank you very much.....

Yes, this is true. The new drivers have hardware calls to the MKIII dsp hardware which double the latency whether your unit has the hardware or not. For pre MKIII units it is probably best to use the 3.6.7.x driver.

F%@K!!!! If that's what it takes to make this work, I'll be both happily relieved and hugely enraged, since I started out with the older drivers and had some luck. Still, the older drivers don't seem to recognize the hardware, which is why I thought to upgrade to the new drivers (MKii FW XP64). How does one roll back to that older version (3.6.7)? Because all the links on the site are to the 3.6.8 version with which I've had no luck.

Welcome to the world of MOTU. They will not offer you earlier version. I have been told this directly in phone conversations. You are using 64 bit os which complicates matters.

there is a thread a few below started by realroach which has links to some previous versions.

When it comes to MOTU, motunation and RESTORE POINT, are your friends

The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

On the Sonar forum are a couple of fairly well known Daw builders. They say this. I also have a utility on my DAW that tells me this and, though not as accurate as the utility, Sonar's Audio device profile tells me this.

here's the link to the utility.

Not to burst anyone's bubble on this but enough people are having troubles with the new generation of drivers to be suspicious of them. And, unless you have MKIII hardware you have no reason to use anything but the 3.6.7.x drivers. Anything later is a big step backwards.
