i don't think it is related to the 8-Pre, since that driver is primarly intended to be used with MK3 hardware with DSP features (comp, reverb, eq, spectrogram...)rnm wrote:seems to be an SL/Sx 3 thing, I just tried using SL3 with the new drivers and no sound was produced via my 8-PRE, I don't use this software now as I have Cubase studio 5 which works fine as does cubase studio 4

Which OS version ? 32bit or 64, Vista or XP ? I have Windows XP 32bit (probably as the majority of users here), maybie that specific driver version is corrupted, more feedback would be welcome.rnm wrote:seems to be an SL/Sx 3 thing, I just tried using SL3 with the new drivers and no sound was produced via my 8-PRE, I don't use this software now as I have Cubase studio 5 which works fine as does cubase studio 4
Nuendo 3 freezes, other ASIO apps work, but with shifted outs. WDM driver is ok too. Just ASIO is affected.
Re: new driver version
FYI: If you do NOT have MkIII hardware do not use the new drivers. They will double your latency because of hardware calls to non existence dsp hardware.
Motu will not give you the old drivers.
Here is a link to the 3.6.7.3 driver: http://s3.amazonaws.com/motu/downloads/ ... .6.7.3.zip
Get the file while you can. These things tend to disappear or get linked to the new driver file,...

Re: new driver version
Well then, I guess the problem is only with the mk3 devices... BTW, bigger latency has nothing with DSPs, version 3.8.1.1359 had 64 as the smallest buffer size, and yet it has been packed on disk with my Motu Ultralite mk3...
I have to say that all of the previous 3.6.8.xxxx drivers gave me BSOD screens from time to time... These (3.8.1.1400) are really rock-solid. I know I've said it already, but I want to stress it furthermore. Only the channel issue

Anyway thanks for the earlier edition of drivers... I wonder, will they work for me ?

Re: new driver version
Hey guys, I recently purchased an MOTU UltraLite and installed the newest 64-bit drivers and had the same driver output offset issues you speak of. I've been in contact with MOTU about the newest ASIO drivers shifting the outputs one-over, 1/2 outputs to 3/4, 3/4 outputs to 5/6, etc... I spoke with them this past Monday, March 16th 2009 and they were able to repro and confirm the issue and are working on getting the problem fixed. They told me to keep checking their website for news and newly posted drivers but there was no timeline as to when.
Re: new driver version
well, let's hope they get it fixed soon, it s a shame to ruin such a nice feature like the spectrogram with this kind of issue..

Re: new driver version
Just to give another data point: i own a recently bought 828mkII Firewire, on Windows XP 32bit, i initially loaded the 1394 and it was useless (check my other post),
the 1400 version screw up less (but cuemix is still jumpy) but change the routing as reported before.
I'll try the older version driver and report back. Thanks for the link !!!

Re: new driver version
wow you guys are making me really nervous about motu, I just today purchased the 828 Mk III and it is due to ship to me tomorrow and I get on Friday.
I am running Windows Media Center Edition.
But all the talk about motu and MCE not working well together, and now this talk of driver issues, has me very concerned if I made a mistake.
I think I will cancel my order for now...

Re: new driver version
Just repeating what I had been told by a couple respected DAW builders and my own experience. I've found that out the hard way. The problem IS with pre MkIII units too (all I own). The bigger latency has plenty to do with the way MOTU has implemented the mkIII hardware into their driver.dare wrote:Well then, I guess the problem is only with the mk3 devices... BTW, the 3.6.7.4 driver has 32 buffer size, at least it does on my copy,... and you can kiss that good bye on the most recent (64 bit) versions (128 minimum). There's been plenty of crying by others that I don't need to.
Re: new driver version
Sorry to burst your bubble but MCE has been know to not play nice with almost any intensive audio apps and devices. You might want to change that,...veech wrote:wow you guys are making me really nervous about motu, I just today purchased the 828 Mk III and it is due to ship to me tomorrow and I get on Friday.

a few heads-ups since you're just getting you unit:
If you are only using one unit, you'll probably be fine. If you ever hope to add units be aware you'll do that easiest via the adat i/o's since the firewire daisy chainging is very problematic and often not possible: a fact not admitted to by MOTU ( I'm very cranked about this one). Better hope that 828 has 2 adat i/o's, or you'll never get all your channels at the highest rates.
Be sure your computer has a TI or Lucent chipset in the fire wire.
Motu makes decent hardware. Their support, though, is mostly non-existent at best and hostile at worst. You'll probably get better response here.
Best wishes with the new unit. I was pleased with my 896hd unit. But I wanted to add channels and then the whole thing's turned into a major pain in the a$$. Give it a run through. At worst you have a 30 return period,... good luck
Re: new driver version
The general consensus on the Cakewalk Sonar forum is that for UltraLite (pre MkIII) and Windows the version 3.6.7.4 driver is the best (lowest latency).
Unfortunately you can only get the most recent driver via Motu.
Could some kind soul share a copy of v3.6.7.4 for Windows?
Thanks

Re: new driver version
hi,
also updated the new drivers on my 828mk2 and I'm not too happy with them. Can anyone please share the older 64bit version of the 3.6.7.4 driver.
I would be very grateful.

you'll need to be registered at MOTU.com, and you be asked to log in.
read through this chain and you'll find earlier versions:
http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=31518
the link I posted above downloads a file that does not install for me although it is from a motu site. Anyone have a similar experience?
There are no 3.6.7.x 64 bit versions. People who get the wavert versions of the most recent working like them. Again: not all results are consistent. caveat emptor
Edit: I initiallyt thought threre were o 64 bit version but found there had been. The correction follows:
while googling I found this page still on motu's site but not linked to from their page:
http://www.motu.com/download/updates/all-downloads
It has a link to the 3.6.7.4 driver 64bit BUT the link takes you to the new 64bit download. I know this is no help but it does correct me and confirm there was a 64 bit version of that driver. Talking it out of their sorry asses will be next to impossible unless there is a deity,...
