Hello, I have a T400 Thinkpad, with a 7200 system drive. My Ultra MK3 runs to my one 4 pin F/W 400 port.
I would like to add a 2nd external HD for audio files and program content. I have a Card Bus running Liquid Mix thru its F/W port.
Has anyone daisey-chained an external HD to the extra Ultra MK3 F/W port with success? I was thinking a Glyph Portagig 320GB 7200RPM (FW800 + USB) into the MOTU, into my laptop.
Anyone tried this route, or have any other external HD suggestions? Thanks

Re: Daisy-chain external HD thru Ultra MK3? HELP!
You can do this but it has its risks. If you accidentally disconnect anything in that chain while any data is transferring (either by recording, playback, copying), you run the risk of corrupting the whole drive. This happened to me a few years ago and lost a whole days worth of work. Since then I use USB 2.0 connections for my hard drive. In practice it is just as fast.
