Any Voxengo users out there?

Post by daveyboy »

Sorry if this is the wrong place James but I see others post here regarding plug in deals. I just checked out this new Voxengo plug in, http://www.voxengo.com/product/voxformer/, called Voxformer. It's actually a really amazing channel strip regardless of the very cheap price and includes an eq (with spectrum analyzer), 2 compressors, desser, etc. You can read all about it. Anyway, I was curious so downloaded it. It has a presence know that seemed to add a "magic" sheen to the top end. If the de esser works better than my waves or UA stuff then I'm in.

Hmmm... I bought "Elephant" and like it, but them I'm a pushover for master limiter plugs. :D

I've bought a few of the Voxengo plugins and like them. Good prices, too!
He's also very active in his forums and seems to respond quickly regarding any bugs or questions.
I tried the Voxformer 2 demo, and like it - even if it's intended as a vocal channel strip, it seems to be useful for many other things.
One of the other things I like about all the new revisions of the plugins, aside from getting ported to Mac, is that he's adding M/S capabilities, for which I've been getting interested.

I like the bass enhancer, LF Max Punch, which was also recently ported to the Mac. Aleksey really seems to be a good dev; knows his stuff. The Marquis compressor gets a lot of love on other forums, so I'm looking forward to that one coming our way...

I was curious about the lack of Mac version but from you're saying he's working on it? I'd like to hear the tape saturation plugin.

No, I just meant it's coming... eventually... :? From what I've read at KVR, Aleksey isn't saying "what's next", just that eventually they'll all be ported. I'd like to hear that tape sat (from the Analogflux Suite), too.
"The TapeBus plug-in recreates characteristic elements of the reel-to-reel tape sound. This includes saturation, modulation noise and smearing effects which are known for the 'analog' feel they bring to any audio recording. This plug-in also applies a selected impulse response taken by us from the existing tape machine."

I think Voxengo plug-ins sound good, but I really have to give a thumbs-down on their
GUI's, which have that Ableton Live "cheap toy" look.

I was a little put off by the GUIs at first, but they grow on you, and the info is presented in a very legible way.

I have to disagree with you about the GUIs.. I quite like them, especially the very smooth level meters.... I remember using the crunchesser on this guys vocals once and we all just enjoyed watching it working away. :)
