Shure KSM27 mic

Has any one used this microphone and is it a good one?

This is one of the better bargains out there.....it's like a AT4033, but a little more forward and not as dare I say "warm" on the bottom-end. But it's very clean and up-front. There was a $100 price drop on these recently as they are being discontinued to be replaced by the PG27. From what I understand, the PG27 is the same thing--just re-branded and in black.

Thanks Brad I have seen some good deals on it. What Mics do you think re the best of the less costly ones or ones that are on good deals?

Well, it depends on what they will be used for....and what pres you'll be using. But KSM27's are certainly good ones as is the one I was referring to in another thread, the Bluebird--although that one isn't as versatile.

For vocals mostly.

I can't say yes or no....because well there really is no one mic fits all until you get up into the budget of the big boys, even then that's not always the case. I guess I can safely say, it's one of the better mics in this price-range....and that was before the $100 price drop. I can also say that this is a mic that you'll want a pre that has some tone to it as it's a little bright, not terribly bright though.
