DP 6.02 & Vienna Ensemble 2

Post by Composer2112 »

Hi folks,

Does anyone have DP 6.02 and Vienna Ensemble 2 working with multi outputs from VE?

It works for me but all the outputs from VE show up in DP as "Vienna Ensemble VE 1" regardless of how many I have. In DP 5.13 they showed up as "Vienna Ensemble 1-2", "Vienna Ensemble 3-4" etc. Obviously this is part of the bundles problem in DP6 but has
anyone found a workaround or is there a way to rename bundles?

DP 6.02
VE 2.3452
OS 10.5.6
Dual 3ghz Quad
16gb RAM

Thanks,

Meiro

I've had a few problems with how VIs register in general with 6.02. It seems to sort itself out with a quit and restart of DP, sometimes a restart of the computer takes care of it. But yeah-- even when I rename the instrument tracks they tend to change themselves to Instrument 1, Instrument 1, Instrument 1....

I've noticed a lot of strangeness in DP6's bundles window, especially with VE. On my system they all come up as "{track name} VE" without any numbers and the first column corresponds to output 3. For some reason on my last project, out of nowhere the 3rd and 4rth columns started patching from outputs 7-8 so I couldn't use the 5-6 pair at all and the output bus in VE wouldn't route anything into DP no matter what output pair I assigned to, that was a fun problem to troubleshoot on a deadline.

I've since decided to give bidule a shot and relieve DP of any hosting duties and so far it seems to work pretty well.

Hi,

Can you have multiple audio outputs from Bidule going into DP? What I want is to have a string bus, brass bus, wind bus, etc. This worked flawlessly in DP 5.13 with VE.

The other problem in 6.02 (other than the messed up bundles) is that the audio from VE has clicks in it as though there was a Wordclock issue. Strangely that's only in the recorded audio - it's fine in the monitors.

Definitely. Assigning multiple outs in Bidule is pretty straightforward.

Here's a thread with another composer describing his workflow with Bidule if you haven't seen it already:

Oh that's great! And thanks for the link!

I'll have to check Bidule out. Of course I just restored my system to DP 5.13...
