You know what would be nice? Some sort of plastic key-caps that come on sheets that are printable in an ink-jet printer. Then you peel them off and apply them to your keys. Kind of like stickers, but hopefully of a non-adhesive substance that just sticks. I've seen such stuff. Dr. Scholls uses it for some heel pads that stick to your feet, but never need adhesive. One side of it will stick to just about anything, and if it loses its grip, you just wash it with soap and water, and the grip returns. Imagine sheets of that stuff in different colors, on a paper backing that will go through the printer. It would come with a template for Photoshop or Illustrator, and you could make as many as you want, all customized for your keyboard setup. The only problem would be coming up with something that doesn't rub off or smear like ink-jet printer ink usually does. Well, it was just an idea. I'll let someone else worry about the how-to's, since there's no chance that I'll be developing such a thing.

Remember the discussion about the Russian key board that had LED displays in each key and you could change it for what ever program you were using;I still think this idea would rock.

Look above at Editor Keys. There is no reason you have to put the stickers on the correct keys, although the key combinations might be wrong.

Very nice idea. :) I also don't like the slim keyboards. Like dating an anemic super-model. Sexy as hell, but 'where's the beef?'
Ive got one that came with my Mac Pro. I like it a lot! Use one for awhile Mike and you'll change your mind.

That is the one Tim, Dwetmaster I remember it's cost was going to be about that, to rich for me. Cool idea all though.

I use the key board that came with the Mac Pro for my day to day stuff and plug in the EZ for video editing, I like the feel of the Mac Pro keys but I am still getting used to them as they feel so different.

Read my lips, Wax'.... she's a Brit, but isn't Brit. LOL

I still date Brit when I feel like a silly-blonde night on the Boulevard in a limo, as long as she's kept well away from the steering wheel.

EDIT: Anything to report on the keyboard cover yet? Coffee? Sharp/jagged fingernails? Feel?

Wow, too bad about those keyboards. $1800 for a keyboard? Whew! Who would do that? And as the girl showed us, the keys are too big! Imagine someone putting out a piano with larger-than-average keys. Just wouldn't work.

I got one of those regular keyboard covers for my new Mac keyboard. I love this keyboard, but with the cover on it, the space between the keys became so small that the slightest move of my fingers off-center of the key causes me to hit two keys. I have to take it off when I use it, so it pretty much stays off all the time. That kind of defeats the purpose. It's sitting there under my monitor as I type this. So, imagine those giant keys of the optimus maximus keyboard, with no space between them. Maybe they'll learn from their mistakes and focus on making them more usable and cheaper.

Read my lips, MM'.... It is a Logic keyboard but it ain't Logic. You know what I mean? LOL...

I have been using it for a few days. I am starting to go for some commands that I would not have used like "bundles" and some of the choosing windows is changing my work flow a little and getting me away from the mouse. I would recommend a paper print out if all you want to do is learn commands and take the $57 and put it towards a VI or plug. The best part was my wife walked in and said she wanted a color keyboard. The colors are very girl... If you are not secure in your monkeyhood don't get one of these...lol

It feels great. Not really British.

This is funny my sister calls the mouse, "the monkey"

LOL Good on her, I say. :D

Thank you for the report, G; it sounds just fine to me. Girly colours, eh? I'd not mind - it'd be the closest I've been to 'em in, well, too long to mention. Monkey funds were tied up in the banana-wholesaling market and have subsequently rotted, so hopefully these things are still available much later in the year.

Thank you again, Wax'.

I still think this looks like some thing that may be nice to have, I love my EZkeyboard FCP one, I have Adobe Premiere set to FCP key bindings and it make it very fast to edit.
Now that the ad is posted above I am really thinking of getting the DP keyboard, for 169 you can get it with a shuttle and I have been wanting a shuttle.
The one that is a keyboard is not a plastic covering over a keyboard right it looks like the keys are printed on, right? I did not get the cover as I am not sure that I would like that kind of feel.
Unlike some people I use to many programs to remember all the key commands, I do know lots of them but well you know.

Now who has got the keyboard and please tell us about it.

I see the shuttle is about $50 on the web; from $45 to $75 with out shipping. so the $170 keyboard is $120 if you want the shuttle. On the Logic keys web site they also sell the shuttle pro.

EDIT
I take it back after reading the add one more time I see the keyboard is $170 and the shuttle is another $50.

Numbers rounded up.

I see they have a set of keys you can change out with your G5 keyboard, I have a late model G4 keyboard and an early model G4 keyboard.
I wonder what the difference between them and the G5 key board is. This would be a cheap way to do it.
I will go to the Apple site to see if I can tell.
Any info you may have would be nice.
