parallel compression, how set up ?

Hey friends, i am a songwriter, and day by day i am find new resources to present my songs with that "extra thing"
Now i discover "parallel compression" does any one can tell me how can i set up on DP for mastering and/or Level up the Drums ?
some 1 to 10 steps to do it ??

Very appreciated any help.

Quick point: I've wished MOTU would provide us with "Mix" knobs on its dynamic processors. This, tobysan, would allow us instant, variable parallel processing. Hopefully MOTU hears the call.

Tis easy really.

Either buss say the whole drums to an aux track and setup up a compressor, slam it how you want then pull the fader down (while leaving the unbussed drum tracks playing) then slowly bring it up until you get a balance between the 2.

Another way is say you want to slam a snare track, well simply copy the track there are now 2 snare tracks, insert compressor on the copied one compress and gate to taste then combine them to how you see fit.

I use these all the time and not just drums, vocals is a beauty and yesterday I did a mix and used it on acoustic gtr's.

Be warned though a little go a long way.

i did several test, my first reaction is that i can not notice any phasing issues between the two parallel tracks. DP ROCKS !!
i push my drums on the "C" parts with a very quickly release and 6:1 ratio, also a very fast attack, wooow now i can see a big "before and after"

There shouldn't be any phasing as DP has auto latency compensation for most plugins Except vintage warmer 2

I wish I could figure out why you're having problems with VW2. It works perfectly on all tracks for me; including Aux tracks. It's sample accurate. However, I'm using DP5.13. I don't know how DP6 handles it.

Yep it simply does NOT work

I'm not alone in this either as other have said the same and there are many posts on there forum as well.

VW1 worked perfectly in 4 and 5 but VW2 just doesn't, not even on a channel strip, not even on a intel quad tower.

Doesn't VW sport a "Mix" knob? If so, it could be slapped on each drum channel, or for less individual part control, on the drum bus and the mix feature exploited to achieve the same end, could it not?

Obviously this would be a much less CPU-efficient approach, but being non-auxiliary instantiations, I'd expect DP's ADC and pre-rendering to reliably compensate for this somewhat. Am I missing something? You've surely tried it this way, haven't you Mark?

I shall try it but even when you mute it it's still there.

ONly when you you remove the plugin does the latency go away.
