Hi..
I've been searching but haven't seen a specific topic on this (please link me to it if there is one already. But, I'm trying to freeze a VI track and my issue is this:
When freezing the VI it freezes the selection range of the corresponding MIDI notes, however, I would like to extend the freeze to the end of the measure, not just the end of the last MIDI note. What I have been doing (which is a bit tedious) is manually copying an extra note to the start of the 1st measure AFTER the range I've selected so DP is forced to freeze partly into say the 5th measure if I'm only trying to freeze 4 measures of VI. Am I missing something, or is there away to tell DP to freeze until the end of the 4 measures instead of the last MIDI note?
This comes into play because there are effects, echoes, delays, etc. that continue after the last MIDI note is released that I would like to have as part of the freeze. Simply holding the MIDI note out to the end of the measure does not solve this because it may add or maintain additional sounds/notes to the end of the range that I don't actually want.
It's not so much an issue with one track, but I find myself having to do this with multiple tracks in a particular project very often.
Question on freezing VIs to end of measures

How are you selecting are you doing it in the selection bar in the transport or top of the window? I think that should work, I have to admit I have always froze the whole track, just the way I have worked so far.

Aaaaahh....nevermind...I swear I can read certain things in the manual and never get them completely until I have a distinct problem and then it all makes sense...I need to be using the "Selection Information" bar to set the start and end measure and THEN select the tracks accordingly....it all makes sense now...problem solved........feel dumb for not "getting it" earlier.twistedtom wrote:How are you selecting are you doing it in the selection bar in the transport or top of the window? Thanks though..

Ah, you've just reminded me of that often repeated experience: the notion of ignorance. And there's never a time that my own ignorance flares up with more passion, with more reason, than the moment before... I "get it." Some of my best posts for this forum had to be deleted when I realized, before (or shortly after) hitting "Submit," that I was completely wrong.

You are 100% correct....I think the frustration leading me to pop in and ask for help (Thus forcing me to type out my problem and think about it) made the difference.....guilty of having a serious lack of patience when frustrated...Shooshie wrote:Ah, you've just reminded me of that often repeated experience: the notion of ignorance. Re: Question on freezing VIs to end of measures
I've discussed this elsewhere, but I always just select a empty measure or two extra at the end of a MIDI track in the Tracks window with the cursor when selecting the MIDI track(s) I want to freeze or bounce, for the exact purpose of having enough space for reverb tails, instrument tails and delays beyond the end of the track's MIDI information. It will bounce or freeze to the end of your highlighted selection, regardless of whether there's any actual information in it or not.
