Don't mean to be stupid ,but I have using a 896 hd for several years ,it went down last week, so I dug out a 828mkll I've had but never used cause I could'nt get them linked.My question is how do you turn up the mic input on the rear 1/4 " analog inputs.If anyone could explain this very carefully I would greatly appreciate it. I need to record.

Have you tried using cuemix? There is a way to navigate the front panel controls, but this is somewhat painful, if memory serves me. With cuemix, you can just do it from your computer.

Also, not that you want to hear this, it is outlined in the manual. I think you can download a PDF for it, if you can't find the manual.
