I have the same problem with UVI and the ghost boxes, on DP5.13, and I' m thinking it's not a DP problem.
I don't think it's EZ Drummer. Almost Guaranteed as It was workin' just fine in DP 6.01. To be honest I have only ever used UVI once and I dropped a drum loop into 6.01 with absolutely no probs. I'm almost 99% sure this is a 6.02 prob. Also to be fair, I only used DP 5.13 a little bit as DP 6 came right after I purchased so there may very well be a UVI prob in that version that I didn't know about. UVI did work fine in 6.01 though.
Let us know if u find out anything else.....

James, are you using that "DP 6 fix" update that XLN Audio released for AD in 9/08?
Yep. Although I don't think for my system I technically needed it. Wasn't it an "Intel" specific fix. Either way, it didn't seem to hurt anything and drag & drop was fine with 6.01.
Had UV work station running and when play was stopped I loaded samples DP played fine until I started changing patches on MX4; then I go a CPU over load warning and when I told it to continue the whole dam computer crashed and I had to restart.
Is any one else having MX4 problems?
So far I am not liking this upgrade.

I might respectfully suggest creating a new topic for this since this is MX4 and doesn't seem to have anything to do with MIDI Drag & Drop.
Here's what happens for me when I drag and drop a MIDI file from EZ Player into DP. Get the ghost outline, blast of drum sounds, but no doubling up. Funny thing is, that's what always happened fro me in 6.01. It was creating rogue MIDI triggers in the commands window. Not doing that now however. Works fine if I make sure the MIDI track I'm dragging to is not record enabled.
Mac 2.8 8-core, 20 GB RAM, Mac 10.9, DP 8, EWQLSO Platinum Play, Mach V II, Kontakt 5, Superior Drummer, AIR, Absynth 5, Plectrum, CronoX, Albino3, RMV, cup of tea.
Wow... better work around still-- someone already suggested it and I just tried it. Just drag to the Mac desktop and a .MID file is created, then drag that file to the TO. No problem at all. Thanks for this suggestion.
Has anyone tried reinstalling Addictive Drum or EZDrummer (or EZPlayer Pro) and seeing if the problem persists, or at least deleting the plug's prefs file (if it has one)?

I thought I was in a different topic James as I came from my email, I will start a new topic with this.

Just FYI that I'm running the latest BFD2 and I get duplicates when dragging from the grooves window. Interestingly, I get 5 copies placed one on top of the other. I was able to step back through the undos pretty easily and end up with just the one copy of the groove I need. I have to admit, even with the duplication, 6.02 is much snappier when dragging MIDI grooves in like this. I was able to drag the groove and undo numerous times in a much shorter time than it took to get drag the groove in with 6.01.
I've just been dragging and dropping MIDI files from BFD 2.1 and Drumcore. Basically it's all working and working well!
I was able to recreate the multiple pastes from BFD a couple times. I think it depends how cleanly you mouse into the desired location. The drag and drop also seems to merge with previous data if you happen to drop onto an existing track. Hitting 'undo' quickly restores order and gets you back to one track. But double checking the event list after dropping is a wise idea.
At any rate, the basic functionality is there. I'm relieved.
I use Dent du MIDI on my MIDI files first.
Dent du MIDI is an application that takes standard MIDI files and generates separate files for each track which contains the MIDI note data.
Rainman wrote:I've sent e-mails to both MOTU and ToonTrack regarding the MIDI file drag problem. I had an SMF on my desktop and this dragged in to 6.02 with no apparent problems. So far, other than Stillwell and EZPP, everything is working well. The crash problem I had with Kontakt 2 seems to be rectified. Actually 6.02 "feels" quite stable. I'm doing some mixing today and we'll see how that goes, straight up Rock & Roll, @30 tracks per.
What are all the plugs and VI's you have tested? (besides those mentioned above)
Thank you for your service,

Kontakt 2, SampleTank 2.5, PSP Vintage Warmer and MixPack 2, PSP sQuad 1.1.1, Waves RenVox & SuperTap (version 5), Altiverb 6 and Track Plug 5, were all used on tracking and mixing, no problems whatsoever. Should also mention MW EQ was used but I doubt it's ever been an issue for anyone.
DP 10.0, UA Apollo Two, UA Octo, far too many plugs.
I contacted toon tracks and they got back to me saying they are waiting for Dp6 to arrive.
I think it is maostly a MOTU problem.

Below are the details and resolution for the support case you opened for your Toontrack Product.
Case: 3746 has been resolved and closed
Date: 02/18/2009
Tech: Bob DeMaa
Problem Description: EZdrummer Operation
Details: Mac Pro 2.8 Ghz 8 core 16G ram - Dragging MIDI from EZ Drummer into the updated Digital Performer 6.02 is broken.
A box keeps flashing going between EZ Drummer and DP.02 and it makes a messed up sound like the drums are stalling out. It will not always take the MIDI file into DP.02 and if it does it acts very slow.
MIDI drag and drop works in DP.01 but you get some of the same staling noise although not as bad.
I am on a new Mac. Pro 8 core 2.8 Ghz OSX 1.5.6 with all the latest updates including the update avaliable from toon tracks.
Resolution: This is now a confirmed issue in DP6.0.2 I have no guess as to when a fix will be made. I'm going to assume that an update for DP will come out to address the issue, but both parties are working towards a fix.
Sorry for the delayed response, thanks for your patiencet. I wanted to be able to confirm this on my own system as well as wait for confirmation form other sources.
best,
bd
