On playback with 6.01 audio performance is 50-60%
With 6.02 I'm at 90% or higher.
Uninstalled 6.02 and reinstalled with same results.
Repaired permissions and ran disc warrior with same results.
Any comments or help is appreciated.
Did you check to see that some of the instruments did not get changed in their real-time vs. pre-render status? Did all your studio configuration settings remain the same. Just wondering.
Settings exactly the same...
all VI's in real time
buffer at 1024
work priority low

I just installed 6.02 and when I launched it I got a fatal error pop up.
As it was loading all the plugins the Bias demo bundle with GateX, Squeeze, etc apparently expired
and it gave me the choice of buying or cancel, but for every plugin in that Bias bundle and then crashed.
I tried trashing everything Bias, except for Soundsoap which I've had for a few years and still crashes.
I even tried having the DP6 installer disc in the computer when I launched DP 6.2 and CRASH!
The fatal error pops up after a few plugins get loaded, I click OK and it goes through loading all my plugins and then crashes on me.
Can anyone here please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Robert
Hey Robert take out all your plugins (except the motu ones) put them in the disabled folder in your plugin folder in the library (if there is not a disabled folder just create one) and boot DP. If it boots and all is fine close it, then put one back in and reboot, do this until you find the bad one/s.
Also try deleting the AU cache file in user/library/preferences/digital performer.
Hope you get it sorted
Yeppers! (sorry James, couldn't resist), that did the trick.
It was a general MIDI folder in my components meant for Sibelus 5.
Thanks for the advice.
The new shortcut feature is sweet in 6.02

Lounge Lizard works great in 6.02, same with Philharmonik and all the other IK plugs! Melodyne Bridge also seems to be working well, at least for me!
great news. Thanks A.

I have a mixer window with about 30 tracks, so it covers more than one display. If I add a track, the size of the mixer window snaps back to fit on a single display -- it doesn't move to one display, just shrinks to that size. Same thing happens if I rename a track in the mixer. What is most annoying is that it covers up the right most tracks so you can see the tracks you just created or renamed.
I think this didn't happen in 6.01. Anyone seeing the same? A bug?
Check the Mixing Board mini-menu — is the Auto-Resize option enabled (I forget the exact wording, I'm not running DP at the moment)?
timriley wrote:Go to Preferences>Control Panal... You can make the Control Panal transparent!!!
Yeah but when would I want it transparent?
I have the same question...
For me this new feature is nice. The width of the CP is way off the spec, (TO WIDE), for many of us is with smaller monitors but using about 65% transparancy with float or, "keep on top", allows you to put the CP over areas of DP that are just for monitoring purposes like possibly a waveform you are not editing at that moment.
I would prefer to be able to have breakaways but this is better than nothing.

That seems to be it. Except that the auto-resize seems to assume one display width is the limit of the window size available. Window sets seem to have the same problem, and in addition they can't properly place windows that we partly off the screen at the time of the window set creation.
Since I posted, I found that the problem with the mixer only appears with projects I created in 5.12.

+1 Floating is great. Transparency not as useful IMO, but breakaways! Now you're talkin' useful interface! Even better.. how about a little dock like Adobe uses?
Now if I could just determine which tabs appeared in the consolidated window... or more accurately, which ones DIDN'T appear there.
taylor12k wrote:does anyone know where a full Read-Me can be found of the new features and fixes? didn't find one after i ran the updater..
Go to the Help menu in DP and select 'New Features In Digital Performer 6', and it launches the PDF. Since the PDF is stored somewhere in the app, I saved a copy to my desktop for printing or for reading when DP wasn't launched. (The instructions for finding this are easy to miss - they're in the Read-Me which appears at the start of installation.)
This is a new approach for MOTU. In DP 5 and earlier, the installer used to put the PDF - and maybe the Read Me file too, I don't recall - on your desktop or in the DP application folder (which is no longer used).
Great, I think. I just hope features included in 6.01 are also included here? I did as usual and threw away the old app before reading this post. Guess I can find the 6.01 PDF at the MOTU site as well...
I hate to jump around here but I seem to hear a slight MIDI delay on 6.02 VSL playback. Is there a way to advance the playback timing but not by note movement as written???? Like a few ticks of look ahead..
