P5Q + motu FW

Post by majdid »

Hi there,

any one can please confirm if the Asus P5Q (pro, deluxe, premium, or whatever model) is working fine with the 828 mk3 or any other FW motu interface?
i am in the process of building a new daw and really dont want to make any mistakes.

if not, can you please suggest a good new mobo?

thanks,

I'm a P5Q-PRO user, 828mk3 is perfectly match with this MB. It have two FW slots (one is in backboard and one is internal) for your usage.
Only one thing you may notice is, if you connect one more PCI interface 1394 card to PCI slot and try to use any more FW equipments,
They will share the FW bandwidth of P5Q MB ,and the original FW connection will be stooped.
Hope it's helpful to you.

well, i got it already, along with an ADS TECH PYRO PCI 64 Firewire card, and a core 2 QUAD Q9550 CPU. i can say that now most of the issues are gone, did not notice one squeal in 2 days. i did not do any serious tests, but so far its going great. i am wondering how the system stability will be when sidechaining two motu units or more...

ps: windows xp sp2 here
