Send group to a compressor ?

Post by tobysan »

Most of you are experts on this, apologies in advance if my question is to obvious for you.

What is the best way to send a group of background vocals or any instruments group to a Plugin buss compressor ?
im kind of confuse about this, i use to do on this manner but im not sure if im right.

1.- open an Aux track then ability the input on bus 1-2 (i.e) and insert a buss compressor
2.- on the tracks i want to send to a compressor i change the track Output to bus 1-2
or
1.- open an Aux track then ability the input on bus 1-2 (i.e) and insert a buss compressor
2.- send output on each channel to bus 1-2
3.- send volume knob to -13 (i.e)

or otherwise the best way is to send the tracks outputs to an AUX track Input, then insert the compressor, eq etc on this aux track ??

thank you for any help on this.

I don't understand the question, it's sounds like you said the same thing 3 times, and it sounds like a good way to do it.

Yeah, sorry about my English, basically my question is, what is the best way to send a group of tracks to a single plugin compressor.

Thanks

The way you're doing it sounds fine.

Make an aux.
Add effects.
Assign aux input to bus 1-2.
Assign output of selected tracks to bus 1-2.
Rock.
Continue rocking until you can't take it no more.
Relax with cold beverage.

Thanks Bongo_x
im kind of confuse about "send output on each channel"

I have to send it to bus 1-2 thru "send output" or "audio output" ??
also this working for EQ a group of tracks ?

Very thanks for your advice my friend.

you could do it either way, but you really only need to use the "sends" if you want to hear the main output of the channels at the same time (like parallel compression). If you don't need to hear the main output at the same time then use the main "audio out" to the aux. That's probably what you want.

You can use any effect you want on the aux, as long as you want it to effect everything the same.

Hopefully that makes sense.
