828MKIII error finding device

Post by gijsdelouw »

Hi, after working perfectly with my mkIII for 5 months, now i have a major issue... when i put the Firewire cable in my macbook nothing happens. Normally the motu audio setup starts. I tried to download new firmware, but also when i use bootloader on my MKIII, nothing happens. It seems that there's no connection between my MK3 and my macbook. I tried another firewire device and a new cable, but that works okay... Is there some other solution, or is my firewire port on the mk3 defect, and what should I do now, is it possible to repair this?

if you havent already, try unplugging all cords, cables etc. from comp and mk3 and restart everything just in case somethings being held open in another connection. this helps my stuff recover on occasion. permissions is always a good idea. if you have another firewire device try using it in the questionable port to prove the computers port works. if possible try the mk3 on another comp before sending for repair. hope it gets better for you.
good luck

Got Sonar up and running on my new macbook pro. Sound coming thru the 828 mk III. But the CueMix console won't open. It doesn't see the device?

Any ideas?

Sonar isn't mac compatible.

are you using it through Bootcamp or Fusion? That might not be helpful towards CueMix.

I have the same problem. 828 mk 2 wont be seen on cuemix, on my intel 2.8 mac laptop, running 10.5.6.

works fine on logic 8.0.2 and all other outputs.

latest drivers etc.

why can't they get it right?????????

hi guys not read your whole thread....but one problem i encountered with my 828mk3

the macbook wouldnt recognise the 828 and not play sound through it...turned out it was cus i had left my daisy chained (firewire into 828) external hardrive turned on.

if you have a device plugged into the 828 second usb/firewire port switched on try turning it off and restarting your interface? maybe the mac recognises it.

apols if it didnt work, no idea unfortunately.

cheer

hmm, I have just hit the same problem as you gijsdelouw, have tried it on 2 different macs (macbook & an old G4) doesn't see a thing. Both machines work fine with a FW harddrive - but wont see the harddrive either if daisychained with the 828mk3 - any ideas??
