Checklist for Record enable audio?

Post by pjmnash »

I'm trying to figure out why my track won't let me record enable or record. I keep checking transmit/receive etc and my interface is listed on the track sheet but what's wrong?

Could someone please list a checklist of Go i.e. Record precedures?
Thanks,
The lady in Texas

If it's a MIDI track and Multi Record is disabled, the track must have an output assignment.
If it's a MIDI track and Multi Record is enabled, the track must have an input assignment and an output assignment.

If it's an audio track, it must have a valid input assignment and a valid output assignment, and the track must be enabled.
The audio system must be MAS or DAE; audio tracks can not be record-enabled in MIDI only mode.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

Try opening the MOTU demo sequence and see if you're able to play it back and hear it . If so, your audio outputs should be ok. Then try selecting a valid audio input channel on one of the mono audio tracks and then try to record.

The manual can be helpful too :)

The usual culprit is the track has no valid output - if the output is in italics - its not valid. Choose something else.
