Extra notes added by DP
I use DP6 with Ivory piano and Vienna Symphonic cube.
Every so often, DP creates extra notes at the beginning of a project that aren't visible and can't be deleted.
This happens when I'm exporting files for use in CD projects.
The only solution I've found is to restart the computer.
Any ideas?

Anybody know what this could be? I've used Performer and Digital Performer for over 20 years and have never seen this. What on earth could it be?

In case I wasn't clear, these "notes" are not an issue until the end of the project: there aren't there. Then, during the bounce process - or creating sound bites - they play. (I start tracks tracks three measures into the song.)
The system: 8-core Mac Pro with 8 GB RAM, two Sonnet 1 TB Arrays, Omnisphere, Ivory Piano, Kontact 2, DP 6, Vienna Orchestral Cube, symphony of voices.

I suggest you create a new file, load the sequence into the new file via the Load menu (under File), then even maybe go so far as to duplicate track layout, the copy/paste all data to the new layout, and trash the old one. I think it's some bug that's gotten stuck in your file.
Also, you might try turning off half of your tracks at once, then bounce to disk. See if it goes away. If not, then try turning off half the remaining tracks, gradually working your way down to the track that is causing the problem. Maybe create a new track, drag the data over and trash that track. IF it goes away, then the problem was a corrupted track. I've had two or three of those in my 20-odd years with Performer/DP, but none in the past 10. I thought they were history. Hope one of these ideas pans out for you.

Wow, I have no idea as I have not had that happen to me. Is it happening on just one project or does it occur in numerous projects?Shooshie wrote:Anybody know what this could be? I've used Performer and Digital Performer for over 20 years and have never seen this. What on earth could it be?

Re: Extra notes added by DP
I've seen extra notes (two to three of the same notes playing at the same time) in two different scenarios.
One is if you have a keyboard that can create different zones and more than one is turned on and the zones overlap each other. Where they overlap you will get two notes played at the same time and recorded as well. I've seen this happen a lot and the solution is to always make sure that only one zone is turned on that encompasses the entire keyboard.
The second is when I've created a MIDI file from a project that has one channel playing two or more instruments simultaneously. When the MIDI file is created you will get a note for each instrument you were sending to.
I hope this makes sense and possibly explains your scenario.

Re: Extra notes added by DP
I'm not sure, but I think the original poster was saying that these notes aren't visible. They aren't "there," but they show up mysteriously when he bounces to disk. Is that correct? That's what makes these extra notes so strange.

That's correct. They only "appear" when I bounce to disk.
It happened 2 or 3 times during my last project (13 songs).
Then it happened again last week when I rented out my studio.
Fortunately, it doesn't happen all the time.
No, I'm not using multiple zones on the keyboard and there is only one part per track.
