Sessions I made in Tiger crash in Leopard

Post by pietervd »

hi there
i have a problem and here's the situation:
i have a G5 with a motu ultralite and a mac pro with a motu ultralite.
one has tiger, the other the latest leopard version.

i never had problems, but suddenly, the sessions i started on the G5 (tiger) don't open on the mac pro. DP starts, but before i see my session it crashes.
however: i can open every sesson in MIDI ONLY mode.
and i still can open DP on the mac pro and create a new session...

weird huh?
anyone has a clue???

I had that problem when I first installed Leopard. I don't know where the problem was but in frustration I started from scratch and re-installed both Leopard and DP and the problem went away. I realize that's not much help except to say that it could be a bad install of something.

Your topic title says "Leopard" but your post says you're running Tiger on both machines:

hi phil
do you think it has something to do with avoiding software update?

I have no idea. I've always used software update and never had a problem with it. Some people swear by the stand alone installers. I just don't know.

hhmm .. i have a mac pro 8 core and my tiger sessions run fine.
i just copied 7 sessions over the network and opened them on the leopard machine and all is fine ..
you might have some plugins in the session that are crashing.
anyways .. good luck ..

Yep. In fact, it's working so well that I'll be hesitant to update if 10.5.5 comes out.

Usually that's a corrupted plug-in (or plug-in data). Possibly the data from a plug-in in Tiger is incompatible with the Leopard version on your Mac Pro. Start up in 'safe mode' (hold down option when starting DP), and then troubleshoot which plug-in is causing you the problem.
