Problems with Ultralite Reverb in Ableton 7
I've had my incredible Ultralite for 4 days now ... I simply CANNOT get my (Ultralite) reverb effects to come through in Ableton Live 7 on recordings. I've tried nearly everything. The Ableton playback signal - and exported wavs - have the Ultralite compression/EQ but NO VERB!!!
Can anyone help?
Can anyone help?
Re: Problems with Ultralite Reverb in Ableton 7
I think the reverb is the only one effect that is not applied in the inputs before sending the signal to the host... that's what the manual says. so it won't record the reverb. But I think it is better to record it without reverb so you can change the reverb later.
Re: Problems with Ultralite Reverb in Ableton 7
Well, I'm getting reverb on my main outs (1&2), which leads me to believe there must be some way to get it in my recording software. What would be the point in offering a reverb - or 5 of them for that matter - that you can't record? For mixing purposes only? That doesn't make sense to me ...
Re: Problems with Ultralite Reverb in Ableton 7
I just submitted a "Tech Link" to Motu ... we'll see what they have to say (hopefully, heh).

Re: Problems with Ultralite Reverb in Ableton 7
yes you can reverb the return signal with reverb... but that's all mixed together.
Re: Problems with Ultralite Reverb in Ableton 7
I'm trying to do this too.
The Ultralite's (latency free) reverb sounds waaaaaay better than the one comes with Ableton Live.
From reading the manual, the best I've been able to figure out is that Ultralite / CueMixFX has a "reverb return that is selectable in your host software." This "return"s should show up as a pair of channels in Ableton's Input Config. In the manual it's very clear inside of Cubase, but there is no example for Ableton Live. Within Live, none of the Inputs or Outputs are named, and I can't find documentation anywhere that says which-is-which.
I'm going to try hooking up an instrument in a bit and just clicking around until, hopefully, it works...
I did figure out that the Phones output is 11/12, which helps with A/Bing stuff for this purpose.

Okaaay!
So the Reverb Return is on channels 11/12 in Live. Just select it in your desired Audio Track's "Audio From" pulldown menu. Easy.
Unfortunately, I don't know if there's a way to control the wet/dry mix within Live... Currently, I just have a second Audio Track going with Audio From set to the Input (currently 1).
In the CueMixFX software:
In the Inputs tab, adjust the channel you want to record - set your EQ/dynamics, etc, and then turn up the vsb send knob to the desired level (all the way). Then under the Reverb tab, adjust that accordingly. The Mixes and Outputs tabs do not effect what's going into Live.
yup.

The reverb return from the interface will always be 100% wet. To change the dry/wet mix, you should adjust the reverb send control in CueMix FX.jesiah wrote:Unfortunately, I don't know if there's a way to control the wet/dry mix within Live...

Wait till you discover that reverb echos from even the muted inputs are audible at the mains out. If you have the Input VRB send at any level other that infinity the signal on the input will be sent to the global reverb even if all the mixer inputs are muted. You have to physically unplug or turn off the mic to keep it out of your mains. Fx sends should be post Mute and post fader!

Did you join the forum only to go from thread to thread shouting, "The reverb sends are pre-fader! For the love of Unicorn, they're pre-fader, I tell you! Why, Unicorn, why?"DKeeler wrote:Wait till you discover that reverb echos from even the muted inputs are audible at the mains out. We get it. They're pre-fader. That's all you had to say.

Re: Problems with Ultralite Reverb in Ableton 7
I like to have the CueMixFX's reverb set up in a Live "Return Track" that way I can control the ammount of verb and what track gets it. I use an ADAT loop.
Route your ADAT Out to ADAT in ( you can lloop spdif i/o or analog i/o as well)
In Ableton open up a return channel and place "Ableton External Audio Plugin" into return track
In Ext Audio: Audio to 21 and Audio from:23 (this is from my 828MK3, on Ultralite try looping SPDIF or analog and set up corrresponding i/o numbers) Be sure therese inputs and outputs are enabled in Live prefrences
In CuemixFX go to Outputs section
Turn up the Reverb send and return on output channel (in my case it is adat 7/8)
Turn reverb on
Now you should be able to get reverb only on the tracks you have the sends turned up on. I hope this helps.

You don't by chance work for motu, maybe in the design engineering group? You seem a bit sensitive.1nput0utput
