I am thinking about getting the 896 or 828. This question regards using the digital AES in the 896. Would the following effects sends/returns system work with the 896?
1. Output Alesis HD24 ch 1-8 fiber lightpipe to the Motu 896 (A) fiber lightpipe input.
2. Send that audio output to the AES output of the Motu 896.
3. Input to the Eventide H8000 AES input.
4. Audio gets effects added by Eventides processors.
5. Output effects to the Eventides AES output.
6. Input to the Motu AES input.
7. Should be able to control effects level and panning within Motu 896...right?
8. Send result out of Motu (B) fiber lightpipe to Alesis HD24 ch 9-16 fiber lightpipe.
If anyone has a better way to set up a recording system complete with an effects send/return using the Alesis HD24/Eventide h8000 and possibly a Motu 896 MKIII let me know.
Note: the Eventide does have 2 Firewire ports as does the Motu. But not sure how all the routing would work using firewire and lightpipe to send/return signal. Wow, it would have been nice to download the manual...but since that is not possible without spending $20 I am at th mercy of you guru's. Thanks.

Re: 896 MK III/Alesis HD24/Eventide H8000 setup
What do you currently own in your studio, and what has you thinking this setup? Why the HD24, are you recording live on location? Why are you considering the Eventide? What software are you using? etc.
Thank you,
