Motu doesn't have legacy drivers on the site unfortunately. When I get back to the studio I'll upload the file to my site.

Actually, I got them from the MOTU site, they just don't advertise the link. And the package didn't have the asio driver in it,... And two months ago I created a service request on their site to get the drivers which still hasn't been read. And every time I try and call all I get is a phone that rings and rings and rings,...

Thanks MOTU.

And RealRoach, much more thanks. I'll keep looking for when you get them there. My laptop needs the ASIO drivers. Works much better than the WDM. Really, THANKS!

I tried the downgrade to SP1 and followed the directions exactly I think. I got to a point where it said please insert disk with SP2 drivers and wouldn't let me continue. Any Ideas?

I reached that point too and figured out that I had to move the driver.cab too, as I recall. When I got the insert disc message I was able to browse to my location though,...

Which "point" did you reach? On reboot? On reinstall of the SP1 drivers (i.e. "have disk...") It may just be asking you to find the SP2 drivers because it knows that's the most recent SP on your system. If you can just ignore it and go ahead with the file replacement. It will likely yell at you about "installing an digitally unsigned driver" but don't worry.

To a spot where all I could do was insert a disk or cancel. I had uninstalled the 1394, moved the SP2 cab off to a usb drive, deleted the .sys files. Did a reboot and the SP2 files were back. Then I tried to do an upgrade on the driver, that's were the "insert the SP2 disk" came from and I can't go further.

Be sure to do a search through all drives for sp2.cab, sp3.cab and driver.cab.

There may be duplicates in various folders. They will all have to be temporarily removed by the sounds of it.

I might just do a re-install with XP sp0 and add SP1 and stop there.
My PC is an Athalon xp 3500+ single core, so everything should work ok

Indeed this is correct. Running SP1 is great for single core systems, however i would suggest doing it only on systems that are not connected to the internet. There are years worth of updates and security patches in those Sp2 and Sp3 upgrades.

I tried the two fixes and all works well with my motu 896 (original). I run xp sp3 with bootcamp on a macbook pro.

I have also found the 3.6.7.0. driver (essential for asio) at this link: http://www.dontcrack.com/freeware/downl ... SB-Driver/#

Thank you Therealroach

I found the 3.6.7.4 drivers here: http://driversdb.com/device.php?id=113378

it is a redirect TO motu. I installed them and they didn't seem to have asio drivers. Just to confirm, this download installed asio?

The link I found in this post: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=32817

Seems that non HD units can't use the new driver,....

Oh, after two months and three phone calls, I finally called customer service rather than tech support. I got an answer but was told they won't give out the old driver. By afternoon my technote was responded to with the same statement and some redundant information on how to install the driver. Geez, thought I knew that.

They did have me go into the registry and remove entries under machine/software for MOTU, Mark of the unicorn, and under ASIO, the motu key. Something I'd done on my own before. Seems like a simple routine in the install program could accomplish this,...

I'll keep working their way for a while but I'm still trying to get all the old driver versions I can.

Thanks again all

The 3.6.7.0 on the link installed asio. However, the 3.6.7.4 (asio driver) was not working for me. Now asio is found in all my softwares.
