Actually, it does, Mike. You see, one would have to believe that there's no God. LOL

Indeed, James. LOL
MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Maybe someone could tell me how this differs from AirGuitar?
Air guitar requires imagination. RB provides entertaining graphics and the reward of hearing songs as they're meant to be if one hits the right buttons at the right times.

Air guitar for those lacking in imagination, perhaps? LOL

Seriously though, GH saw my little brother take up guitar after a year of playing it where he'd previously spent most of his time playing "massively online" games. Can't be all that bad a thing then, mereckons.

Yeah, a goal like scoring chicks. Maybe if the boys get good enough at RockBand, they can graduate to scoring virtual girlfriends.

THIS is what I was hoping for! If Guitar Hero and Rockband, etc. are the "gateway drug" toward a genuine interest in learning a REAL musicial instrument, then perhaps that's a good thing? (Unless you ask my father who had hoped I'd amount to "more" in life by now! LOL )

Ha! I've the same issue with my dad too, James.

Exactly. My brother always talked about game stuff for many years. Now we talk about music-related stuff. As one might expect too, having played games ad infinitum for 6 or 7 years, he's surprising quick and seems to pick things up quickly. I imagine he has to confine most of his playing to the daytime (a good thing in his case) as he uses a popular and loud Marshal 2x10" or 12" combo with an Epiphone Les-Paul style guitar.

I understand where James is coming from; it's a "power of two" (or more) thing. I wrote a song about it a while back.

That's very funny though, Jim, and points to an issue I have with the marketing of these products. Why Guitar Hero? Obviously I know why (money), but I'd prefer to live in a world where we, rather than pander to the hormonally-catalyzed whims of teenagers, provided more responsible and appropriate guidance. Guitar Hero could've, by way of example, been offered as Guitar Lover, Guitar Virtuoso, Guitar Tour or any of a number of alternatives. As if it isn't obvious, I feel we're rearing a generation of wannabe-heros/rock/movie stars, and am suitably unimpressed. LOL

It's also a source of income. There are RB/GH competitions where people take away some pretty sizable prize money. Sounds like a much better day job than the one I have!!

No, it's worse than that! We already had a generation of wannabe-heroes, etc.

What this indicates is that we're rearing a generation of who aspire to be wannabes!!!

This does suggest income opportunities for the ruthless:

Imitator Imitators
Guitar Hero Idol
Photocopied Document Hall of Fame
Imitation Gucci Collection
Vintage MP3 Duplication
Third Generation Tape Dub Award Show
and so on.

Who are you talking about? Your friend? Nicky? Me? James? Frodo???! I mean, just because he has hair all over his hands and feet and stands all of 35.5 inches is no reason to...

Naughty gorilla boy!

Hey, that reminds me - I know this funny, big, fat, ugly-but-lovable gorilla who boasts the habits of using me as dunny paper and clipping me across the ear whenever I make a peep.

He's near enough to family though, so the ol' caveat applies: You can choose your friends, but not your family.
