On a random but regular basis, my 828mk3 starts ••••ing skipping, sometimes 3sec on 3 sec off..reboot the entire system, goes away for periods of time. In all applications, regardless of sample rates settings..sometimes using the motu audio app and forcing the sample rate elsewhere will rectify it.
At times, renders system unusable. testing to see if network access ahs anything to do with it. tried tracking processes in terminal window....cannot see what is muting output. totally is sucking....
updated driver, firmware. all current.....
mac intel 8 core 2.8ghz
10.5.5
6GB ram
What the heck??

Re: 828mk3 skipping!!!
Pilot,
It's happening to all of us with Intel Macs. The dropouts and lockups started with the first official release of an Intel-capable Audio Driver from MOTU, and has continued to this day. Behavior changes wildly with each new system update for Intel Macs from Apple (including AirPort updates), but I have yet to find a stable configuration. Apparently some users don't have any trouble with MOTU Audio and Intel Macs, but I'm at a complete loss (as is MOTU) as to how to duplicate their configuration. In discussing this with MOTU I expected them to blame Apple, but they didn't. Rather, they asked me to buy more memory, a new FireWire cable, or a faster computer! I have no hopes of doing any real audio work with my Intel MacBook Pro, but will continue to pursue it as time permits.
Regards,
