Just to clarify, even after importing a chuck from a problem session into a fresh session, DP will still crash on me occasionally on "Stop" but it is a definite help with sessions that crash on stop constantly... like every 2nd or 3rd time you stop playback.
Also, seems to happen a lot more often when there's a client in the room:-)

... and if that client happens to be an elephant... LOL
Sorry to hear about this, Steve. My only suggestion would be to try all the usual pref-trashing moves and perhaps consider running DP sans 3rd-party plugs and VIs as a troubleshooting measure.

I had the stop-beachball problem for a long time and tried everything....
Eventually I found that the cause was definitely Waves plug=ins...each one needs to be set to "always run in real time"
That immediately ended the problem and it hasn't occurred since. Good Luck.

Which version of the Waves plugs were you using? I was previously running V5.9.7 with Tiger and updated to V6, then upgraded to Leopard 10.5.5. I've always had this problem. I will try your fix.

I went from tiger to leopard also to a mac pro from G5 and did not upgrade to waves 6. Had no problem in Tiger. I tried removing every plug-in one at a time because I knew the problem was with a plug-in based on help from Magic Dave but the waves plugs didn't seem to be a problem unti I found the "always run in real time" thing and the beachballs stopped completely after three months of torture. Good luck, it seems like this may be your problem as well.
