Then it is unlikely that you had the CD in the drive at the time. This has worked for thousands of others, and will work for you.piranesi wrote:No matter how many times I enter the key code and my name the dialogue box always re-appears.

Re: Where Can I Find DP 5.13?
Where do you think I had the Performer CD? Up an orifice? The system may have worked for 6,001,275,003 other people but it doesn't work for me. DP6 will authorise on my MacPro running OSX 10.5.5 but DP5 will not. OK. If you have anything constructive to say I'd be pleased to hear it and follow your advice. If you don't have anything positive to say then please don't say anything at all.

I wouldn't want to speculate on where you keep your CDs. But if you have managed to install 5.13 from that CD on your computer, then we know the CD and the computer are working. As you acknowledge, it works for a great number of other people with identical CDs and computers, and so the great weight of evidence is that you did something wrong. That consists of 1) having no CD or the wrong CD or 2) entering the code incorrectly. If both are eliminated as possibilities, MOTU is there to help you.piranesi wrote:Where do you think I had the Performer CD? Up an orifice? But I don't know, maybe the laws of physics are different there

Well, the definition of good manners may well be different there, Baysey.

Re: Where Can I Find DP 5.13?
I entered the correct code. I put in the DP5 CD in the correct orifice. Even with a clean install (erased hard drive- fresh system ) it doesn't work.
The blame is mine however. It's my fault for purchasing the software and it's mine for all the bugs in 6.01. Who else is to blame? Surely not MOTU? Their software is perfect and I've only had a mere 30 years experience working with computer software. (I first bought Performer before it was even called Digital performer.) I made a mistake then and I guess I'm still making mistakes today.
Rather than ask MOTU for help I'd rather they got busy and provided a working version of 6 which I'm sure those of you who are using the software would welcome.

Now you're getting it, piranesi - we're all to blame, and it's no fault of MOTU's. LOL
FWIW, I think you made a wise decision all those years ago to buy DP, as did I; we're just stuck in a bit of an orifice... I mean, rough spot right now, but I have to believe that the future looks bright both for MOTU and DP, I just have to.
Yes, you're right IMHO - most of us would (will?) indeed appreciate whichever update brings stability, performance and built-in glare reduction. LOL

Speaking of 5.13, some of you may have noticed that once you upgrade to DP6, you are no longer permitted access download DP5.x. What if you need it? What is the logic here?

If you don't have the updates you need to get to 5.13, and still need to use 5.13, you can contact MOTU and explain the problem. They will help you out.pcm wrote:Speaking of 5.13, some of you may have noticed that once you upgrade to DP6, you are no longer permitted access download DP5.x. What if you need it? Re: Where Can I Find DP 5.13?
I don't need it at this time. But past history has told me that I might at some unsuspecting time in the future need it, and that I would need it right at that moment, not after motu gets around to me. Other companies keep older updaters online. I'm not sure I can even think of a single one that doesn't. But much more bizarre than that is that only version 6 owners can't download a version 5 updater. So, if I upgrade, but don't want to run 6 for whatever reason, I am now locked out of access for DP5 support? I paid for that? This is grossly unprofessional and potentially damaging to people who make their living this way. What if I'm working on a system that suddenly needs a reinstall in the middle of a date, but I can't get access to whatever I need to get things rolling again? What is the reason for this?bayswater wrote:If you don't have the updates you need to get to 5.13, and still need to use 5.13, you can contact MOTU and explain the problem. Why not just get the updates you might need now, and you'll have them when you need them.pcm wrote:I don't need it at this time. Because I be somewhere else when the need arises. How many times have I needed a download when at a friend's house, or another studio. Believe me, these situations can and do come up.

Re: Where Can I Find DP 5.13?
I agree, and this is exactly why I asked about this earlier. I've a huge collection of unfinished projects going back to 2.7, with versions of practically everything in between except for 5.01 (due to its sysex-dumping bug), and dread finding that I won't be able to open one of 'em one day. Many haven't been opened since first saved, and there is a plethora of these things that until the dust has settled on my studio reconfiguration, I'll not be able to start wading through and updating.
IMHO, one should at least be able to download updates to all the previous purchases and upgrades one has bought. Excluding access to non-paid-for versions' upgrades would seem fair enough too, and in most cases you'd expect that this'd pose few problems as most of us have indeed only begun projects in versions we've paid for.

... and why wouldn't you, Baysey? Rightly so, IMHO. We folks here in Jungleville have been at the forefront of world behavioural studies. OK, so we were on the receiving end as opposed to conducting the experiments, but hey, we were involved.
