Hard to say, as only about three posts were about TH1 the product, and what it sounded like.

LOL!
You know what, Mark? I've been lucky enough to have heard the low-down on that forum before ever having visited it, so there'll be no KVR (or BeerGuts (GearSluts)) scars on this Monkey. LOL

... that "everyone and everything else sucked except for the author of the post you're reading at any given point in time", would be my best guess. 36 pages of postings, almost all of which were devoted to complaints about USB dongles, and name-calling. Only a couple of posts that actually had anything informative at all to say about TH1 itself!

Obviously you're not flinging it hard enough.monkey man wrote:No Line 6 hardware product has ever crashed my computer.

As an owner of every blessed version of Amplitube edition ever released (including Live, Uno, and other crippled bundled versions) - I have to say that 1) I like it a lot and 2) I always feed it a stereo signal and seldom has it failed me - even in live use (except for that tuner freeze bug in XGear - a non critical bug) and 3) I find it easy to tweak and like the collection of effects a lot.
I just looked at the TH1 pages and listened to the mp3 demos - not terribly impressed but hey - they're demos and YMMV.

Re: amplitube vs Line 6 Pod XT
So after all these Days of awaiting, I finally received The Variax in all its Glory yesterday!!!
I finally got a deal on a used PodXT Pro for about 400$US. I'm about to make the move today or tomorrow. So for the last time guys:
AMPLITUBE for 229$ or POD XT Pro for 400$US?

Haha, I vote for AmpliTube because it covers more ground and is more likely to get free updates

Yeah, and I still recommend the POD 'cause it'll never crash and work even if Dwet moves to Fruity Loops on a PC running Vista. LOL

Re: amplitube vs Line 6 Pod XT
Just to give you an update, I finally went the Amplitube route. I took the Atube2 crossgrade price from SVX and then got Atube Metal as a free IK's offer.
I decided to go this way as my new Maxed out MacPro should get the job done. With ATube X-Gear's MIDI capabilities, my Boss GT-6B can also be used as a MIDI controller so I don't have a need as a separate floor unit.
Following a few links on Line6 forums, I was able to get S/PDIF out and power my variax using the Ethernet Variax Jack. This way I can stay within the Digital realm directly to the computer. Unfortunately my 896HDs are AES/EBU only so that will justify the upgrade to an 896mk3 hopefully soon...
I made myself a simple patchbox with a mute button and a jack (that I rack-mounted into an old emptied behringer EQ box
) to get noiseless pluging/unpluging and battery-free use of the guitar.
Thanks for all the advices guys.
