calculating time between two markers
I usually only use DP for recording my own music, so I rarely have any need to worry about how long a piece of music is, but I'm doing a radio spot for my dad's art center, and I want to know if there's any easy way to figure out the exact amount of time between two points in the sequence? I imagine there probably is, and it's probably staring me right in the face, but I can't find it if it's there.
Re: calculating time between two markers
I've been looking for a way of getting this information too. In the info bar or selection window it tells you the duration of the selection in beats/ticks, but I don't know how to get it to show real time, or any other time format. I would really like to have that info.

Time formats window under setup menu I guess is what you are looking for, you can momentarily switch all time measures to real time and have a look.

Why do I always forget where that window is? I must have been to the preferences a thousand times looking for it.
Thanks for the help!

Re: calculating time between two markers
If you click on the first marker, it selects everything up to the next one. Then look at the selection start and end times in the control panel.
Also, you can change the time format on the control panel with the little button to the right of the time/measures/frames display.

Re: calculating time between two markers
In DP5:
Click on the first marker (which will select the timeline up to the next marker) and go to Region menu --> Scale Time...
You'll see the selected time displayed in that box under Curent Length.
In DP6, even easier: in editing windows, assuming you have it enabled in Information Bar preferences, current selection length is displayed in the information bar.

Re: calculating time between two markers
I use the "Time Scale" command (Regions Menu) for determining the length of any selected area in real time. As previously mentioned, clicking on any marker will select to the next marker. If you have multiple markers, you can hold "shift" and keep selecting from one marker to the next. They'll accumulate.
Once having selected, go to "Time Scale". Make sure that the little "percentage" window says 100%. The top right icon will probably default to measures, but clicking on it will toggle to real time/frames/measures/etc. The real time setting will tell you the exact time of the selected area. Then, just cancel the window.
