Re: DP6 stability
FWIW, Absynth is working just fine on my DP6.01 set up. The only problem I have had with Abysnth was when I tried to load a .glo patch file from A3. It is supposed to work, but it crashed DP, but that isn't really a deal-breaker for me. The file could have been corrupt for all I know.Harry wrote:there is no update for the integration of the NI-Instruments like Absynth, Massiev etc. I am really angry about this!
Cheers,

…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Re: DP6 stability
Hey, but have you noticed that in DP6.01 Our carefully customised key bindings are saved with the sequence, but not as a preference! (a bit like bundles) so when revisiting older tracks you have to import the new key bindings each time!!! why oh why oh why.martian wrote:my favourite window in DPis shift- the commandswindow- can search for stuff there - and that gives u hints on some neat editing tricks...
I ahve totally customised my keystrokes- my keyboard is a dangerous!!!!

Re: DP6 stability
In 6.01, via some unrelated plugin testing: I noticed that the audio plugins list in preferences seems duplicated when there are no duplicates residing in my AU and MAS plugins folders. And whenever I made changes to the active list and pressed "okay" to restart the audio engine, DP 6.01 crashed.
But hey, the Nuendo forums are full of complaints too...

Re: DP6 stability
Thanks for the advice. I really do appreciate it.Get DP5.13. Call MOTU and tell them whatever they want to hear until they relent and give you a copy. DP5.13 on 10.5.5 on a new MacPro (same as yours, the one that won't run Tiger) is a dream come true, well at least for me... By far the most stable DP setup I've ever run. And that incldues running all kinds of third-party plug-ins, from BFD2 to Sound Toys to Melodyne to you-name-it... all locked to video at all times, and loop-recording and editing, even while saving, literally zero problems for weeks and months now.
I couldn't care less at the moment what DP6 is doing, it's sitting in a box in my studio and will continue to sit there until DP6.13
I second that with extreme prejudice. i understand the heartbreak with DP6. i've been through it. For anyone having problems. GO BACK TO 5.13!
DP6 will sort itself out eventually (I hope)... its just not now. My psychological state has far improved since moving back home (5.13)!
good luck to all.
h.
Called MOTU right after I read both your posts. There was absolutely NO problem from them whatsoever. I was not even asked ONE question.
So, do I leave DP 6 on my drive, and install 5.13 beside it? Or should it come off altogether? I guess it would be nice to keep it on there for the day when 6.1 comes out....I DO like many of the new features of the app, and really look forward to the day when its stable on my machine. I marvel at those users who have figured out a way to make it work. I wish I could as well.
Please advise if you are willing/able.
Again, much appreciation.

Why didn't they just enlarge the text sizes ,add the convo reverb and call it 5.2?
yoohooo MOTU?

Re: DP6 stability
Kubi, I already went back to 5.13 it's fairly stable (2 or 3 system hangs a week) I can deal with it, plus I like 5 interface MUCH better (less confusion & crappy colors). I am experiencing a NEW glitch (for me)... "greyed out" SAVE button, also system menu at top becomes active as you run your mouse over them (like a right click function) wierd huh? Anybody else getting this on 5.13 OSX 10.5.4. Save times can be long also, but maybe that's from EAST WEST PLAY VI's.Kubi wrote: Get DP5.13. In 6.01 can someone tell me if Audio/Fade in/out
Is always grayed out.
It doesn't matter what window or where I high light a bite its still gray.

Re: DP6 stability
Logical, good idea Gary, at least in principle IMHO.Timeline wrote:What if MOTU designed a few seconds of alternative silence sound bites which were always in ram and immediately available to switch to when disk access failed for any reason? Then they could offer a placard with access description of which drive and sound bite was not fast enough but no crashing would occur.
You know, something like this could well mitigate the occurrence of "chopped" 'verb tails that sometimes manifests when soundbites' end-points are close to where audio data ceases to play. Further, I'd anticipate a smoothing of pre-rendering and song-looping glitches.
Am I on the right track here?

I've been away from the board for awhile.
I just checked in to see all of this.
I've been considering upgrading to an 8 core (More cores must be better?) and DP 6.
I'm still on a dual G5.
Since this is a stability thread, I want to attest to the stability of DP 5.13 on OS 10.4.11.
The dang thing boots and works for session after session.
It is fairly crash-proof. (Once in the last 3 months)
In other words, the DAW is the least of my worries when I'm doing sessions.
I hate the feeling of wondering when the crash is going to come.
There is enough pressure in a session without that extra worry.
It is such a relief to use DP as a stable tool.
The downside is that I can't record VIs at low latencies.
The red meter gets pretty red when I'm using lots of plugs.
I'm sure MOTU will get this all sorted out.
In the meantime, I'm a big fan of DP5.13. and a big fan of MOTU.
