Stuck Notes with Ultralite and Vista 64

Post by BG2007 »

Am upgrading from XP32 Home to Vista 64 Home Premium, and now getting "stuck" notes running MIDI through my Ultralite (original, not MKIII). All worked fine under XP32. Problem occurs while playing anywhere from 15 seconds to a minute, more quickly with faster playing, but also with just slow music.

I have latest MOTU Firewire 64-bit drivers correctly installed, I believe. Also upgraded Ultralite firmware to latest V1.15. Vista has SP1 and all available updates installed. Have set Vista System Performance settings to favor Background Services and disabled wireless internet connection. Upgrade includes going to 8GB RAM, which seems to be working OK, too.

Application is virtual pipe organ, and have three manuals and pedalboard with stuck notes occurring fairly randomly among them, so believe not a problem with keys themselves sticking. Ultralite running all audio outs feeding four pairs of speakers and sub, plus the MIDI in for input from the keyboards. Have checked all cable connections to be sure they're firmly seated.

Will appreciate any ideas.

I systematically eliminated my keyboards, cables, wireless network connection, and applications, leaving (at least in my abilities to trouble-shoot) the Ultralite, the MOTU Firewire driver (I did try the one posted earlier this week), and Vista 64 as possible problem sources.

I installed an Edirol UM-2EX USB MIDI interface and the problem was solved, ie, no stuck notes after several hours of playing.
