Asio problem on XP, bootcamp

Post by felipus »

Hello, I have a problem with ASIO on a macbook pro (C2D 2.5 Ghz, 2GB RAM, early 2008)
I installed windows XP SP2 and Sonar 7 producer edition with boot camp, just as it is on my iMac, same drivers, plugins, everything.
First time I start sonar, theres an error, saying that I don't have a driver for the audio device selected, that I must go to Tools|Audio to select another one, but there is NONE.
Installed Vista SP1 and it works perfectly, but I'm not comfortable using Vista, I read somewhere that there's a problem with XP and firewire, that may be solved installing some patches, but how come it's working on my iMac and not on the Macbook pro?

What can I do?

Thank you

Check what firewire chip you have in Mac Pro. When you boot up your mac pro press the command key and "S" key simultaneously. That will open the screen to see which firewire chip is installed.

If it refers to Texas Instruments, you're good.
If it refers to Augere, that's not good.

Hi, the problem is now solved, I had to install a couple hotfixes for xp SP2, the chip it's a Texas instruments, so no problem there.

This are the hotfixes:
KB904412 - Install this update to address several possible issues associated with connecting a Serial Bus Protocol 2 (SBP-2) device, such as an IEEE 1394 device, to a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer.

KB896256 - Install this update to fix a situation where your Windows-based system that supports processor power management features, and is equipped with multiple processors, may experience decreased performance.

KB885222 - After you install Windows XP Service Pack 2, some 1394 devices (such as digital cameras that use S400 speed) may not perform as expected.

As far as I know, this fixes are NOT on SP3.

Thanks :D
