Re: NEW (3.6.8.1360) usb/firewire drivers posted today !
Does anybody knows what is the version history of drivers ? I mean what bug/fixes are included in this version ?
Thanks !
Thanks !
Re: NEW (3.6.8.1360) usb/firewire drivers posted today !
I don't know, but I hope it is in response to a techlink I submitted a few days ago (although I would be very surprised if motu actually read my tech link, especially within a few days).
I had dowloaded the updated drivers they had on the site a couple weeks ago, can't remember the release version. And it caused the s/pdiff input on my ultralight to stop working.
I uninstalled the drivers and re-installed the origional ones that came with the unit and the s/pdiff input still wouldn't work. I sure hope this new one will fix it.
What do you all think about the new cuemixFX consol? I personally don't like it, it has some better features like stereo channel linking, but the interface graphics are cluttered and the controls don't stand out.

I installed these drivers today but they've made absolutely no difference to the problems I'm having trying to get the Ultralite-mk3 to work on a Windows Vista SP1 system.
If anything, they've made the situation worse as I can't get Vista to recognise the Ultralite-mk3 as present. Click on the MOTU Audio Console and it appears to recognise that the Ultralite-mk3 is there and my DAW seems to know about it too, but it doesn't show up in the list of audio playback/recording devices. Nor is any sound produced or signal shown on the Ultralite-mk3's display screen.
I think I'm at the end of my tether with this particular audio interface and will insist on a refund within the next few days.
MOTU's official support is absolutely hopeless - the worst I've experienced in music tech company (the likes of Behringer, Yamaha, Roland, Frontier Design Group, Phonic, Alesis and Akai are much, much better in my experience). Post a query via MOTU's Techlink, though, and you get a message saying they'll respond within two working days. Well, my first message wasn't responded to for a week. My follow-up to that was completely ignored.
MOTU's UK distributor, Musictrack, have been more helpful and responded promptly to my questions but I've still not been able to fix things.

I was looking for that too. It's annoying that MOTU don't give release notes on their new drivers. Most other vendors do.pallakos wrote:Does anybody knows what is the version history of drivers ? I mean what bug/fixes are included in this version ?

Re: NEW (3.6.8.1360) usb/firewire drivers posted today !
MOTU devices are not plug'n'play devices. You should unintall old and install new drivers correctly.comradec wrote:If anything, they've made the situation worse as I can't get Vista to recognise the Ultralite-mk3 as present. Follow this steps:
1. Turn off your system and disconnect the MOTU
2. Use Add/Remove programs to remove the MOTU driver
3. Restart your system and load the MOTU driver (make sure the MOTU is NOT connected for this process).
4. Restart the system once the MOTU driver has been loaded.
5. Shut down the system and connect the MOTU
6. Turn on the system (making sure the MOTU is currently off)
7. Once the system is back up/running, hit the power switch on the MOTU... and complete the driver install process (click Next)
If you don't follow these steps exactly, then the MOTU drivers don't install properly... and result in your current situation.

Re: NEW (3.6.8.1360) usb/firewire drivers posted today !
I figured out my problem with S/PDiff was actually do to with the sampling rate, I guess I can only record using the S/PDiff input if the whole unit is set to 44.1Khz. Pretty lame, does anyone know of any other way of doing this?
Even after installing the new drivers posted on the 10th, the new cumixFX consul trim controls still do not work. You can change them, but they revert back in 2-3 seconds. Does this happen to everyone who is using this new consul? or does it work for some of you?

This happens for me too. MOTU says they're working on fixing it.JWilliams wrote:Even after installing the new drivers posted on the 10th, the new cumixFX consul trim controls still do not work. It's not really good enough, though, is it? A company sells you a product (in the case of my Ultralite-mk3) for £425 saying that it works with Windows Vista. It doesn't work with Windows Vista. So we contact the company's so-called TechLink support service and they don't bother to reply. And volunteers are left to reprogram their inadequate drivers.reeper wrote:mmm...This happens for me too. MOTU says they're working on fixing it
Well, I've had enough. I've given MOTU a couple of months to resolve these issues and they've failed to do that. The product I bought is not fit for the purpose it was advertised as fit for. This evening I've disconnected and repacked the unit and will be returning it to the retailer in the next day or so. A few print-outs of my email correspondence with the UK distributor (who did their best in spite of the hopeless manufacturer) and from this forum should provide ample evidence that this gear is not up to the job.
I've reconnected my Phonic Helix Board 12 FireWire MkII. Despite having the most cumbersome product name in music industry history, it's never let me down and it does what it claims to do very well.

sure, but I dont mind spending some of my free time helping others. It's not really good enough, though, is it? -as a tech in this local musicstore- I have never plugdnplayed anything , yet.. stuff needs tweaking- thats they way it is.Well, I've had enough. Re: NEW (3.6.8.1360) usb/firewire drivers posted today !
i installed it, and honestly did not notice any difference at all, btw the driver version says 3.6.8.1359 and not 1360 when you install it.
Probably a new driver version will go along with their new web site layout (marketing stuff), but honestly i don't think they care about fixing anything wrong on their products, they are "perfect" and the ones to blame are the firewire chip, Windows, ...
Motu, please stop taking you customers for dumb people.
