HELP 896MK3.RECORDED TRACKS ARE NOT IN TIME

Post by emilianobassi »

My new Motu 896 mkIII has a problem...with my Pc.
I've tried to put into input 1 metronome track from output 1....
everything i record is not in time...is delayed.
The delay is equal than latency I've set...i'm not using software monitoring...I'm monitoring directly from my Motu without latency..

I use Cubase 4.5...the latest...and original, not cracked version.
Pc dual core 2 duo extreme
3 gb ram
windows xp pro

I haven't this problem with the same settings on macbook (10.4 osx, cubase 4.5).
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me to resolve this problem

Hi there...

I just noticed this same problem last night when trying to track a bass guitar part... I'd play the part right on, play it back and it was behind the beat... So I tried recording in the metronome and noticed the delay you are describing... I did seem to find a fix though... However, I use Sonar 7 Producer edition and in it's audio settings Sonar allows you to set a manual offset for ASIO reported latency... So with my 896mk3 set to 512 samples, I had to set the manual offset to 1024... As soon as I did that it seems to work good... The recorded metronome track lines right up perfectly now... I'll be testing more tonight, but so far so good (knock on wood)... I'm not sure if Cubase has that feature... If so, try setting the offset to double the amount of your samples... (512/set at 1024; 256/set at 512; etc...)

Another option is to try the WDM driver... If you can use the WDM driver you shouldn't have any delay... The delay seems to only show up with the ASIO driver... However, I can't use the WDM driver... I get strange high pitched squeals through the outputs if I switch to WDM mode... Almost like a digital feedback... It's brutal to your ears... I'm hopeful that this manual offset will allow me to run smooth with the Motu ASIO driver... I hope you get it straightened out! Maybe someone on here knows whether or not Cubase has a manual offset feature???

Best of luck to you...
