Great night last night, many thanks to all who came:

Yes 5 of us, but it was fun, informative, talked tech, DP, M5, Apple, all kinds of stuff.
All of us came up with a consensus to come up with a list of things in DP ( Mach 5), mainly DP that we would like to see addressed.
Timeline is going to start it, and others here can add / comment on it. (may wish to do this here in this thread or another thread, not sure).
Important to keep in mind the intention is not a rip MOTU / DP motive, it really is a sincere desire to list many of the the things we come across as power users and nicely present them to MOTU and please ask them to address them, thus making Digital Performer (MOTU) an even better product for all of us.
I am sure with that approach MOTU will at least know how we feel, they read Unicornation, keeping it professional, civil and polite is the way to go and ultimately get results, which is what we all want.
Would love to see more users out there, Saturday night may not be the best time, we can tweak that for the future.
Perhaps say in next month, around same date we meet again, and would be great to have a system setup and observe how people work, tracks, workflow etc, that would be very helpful I would imagine.
Hope all had a great time, thanks so much.

Thanks John for putting it together. I appreciated your Apple knowledge and our discussion of where this technology is headed. I hope we can do this again and get more unicornation'ers to drop by, and it would be great to have a system set up as you mention to show and tell with!

Re: Los Angeles MOTU / DP Users Group!
Thank you to John for arranging this and to Gary, Frank and Bob, all very knowledgeable, passionate music makers and DP users. I too learned a lot and hope more of you come out to meet with us next time!
Re: Los Angeles MOTU / DP Users Group!
Sorry I couldn't make it, Wife had made other plans... what do I know. Would like to share in the concensus of improvments in the work flow of DP. It is already the most elegant program out there, yet I would love to see them go back to fix those little annoying (to me) things that drive you crazy after a 14 hour day. We don't need more bells & whistles, we want (IMHO) more customization of options, to taylor the way we each work. They keep improving it, but it's so important for them to hear from the people earning a living with the technology day in, day out. Things like Delay Comp. was BIG for me (I use UAD a lot), so would Multi channel support for VI's, or making networking two machines easy (Mini Mac stacks for VI's and DSP). Maybe a new thread would be needed adressing MOTU sugestions directly. I'm rambling, sorry. John, please keep us posted for the next meeting. Thanks
iMac 27" Retna 4GHz, Apollo 8 w/Satellite, NI K-88 controller, plus a ton of VI's.
Re: Los Angeles MOTU / DP Users Group!
I was planning on coming but my son got sick. Only 7 of 17 went to his first grade class Friday. Please keep it going and keep us informed.
Sorry!

Re: Los Angeles MOTU / DP Users Group!
Just wanted to add my thanks to John for putting together the first LA MOTU users group meeting. John's a very knowledgable guy regarding Apple and MOTU, and his input was very informative.
I just happened to join Unicornation last week, saw the meeting notice, and decided to check it out Saturday, since I was working anyway. I'm a long-time ProTools user and DP owner, but have never been a power user of DP. Found the meeting useful to address some issues with DP 4.52 and Mach 5 performance. Have always wanted to like DP, and plan to downsize my home studio to be less reliant on the Evil Empire's planned obsolescence program (you can guess who...) So I have already found this board to be useful, and plan to actively participate.
All the rest of the LA DP users-hope to see you at the next one. Maybe you could post a preferred meeting time to get better participation. Thanks again to John for getting it started.
Bob
