Questions DP 6.01 and Waves 6
We like other users are experiencing DP crashes. Thinking that our problems were because we had installed DP 6 while still having DP 5.13 on the same system we did a complete HD erase and installed a new OS. Leopard 10.5. From that point installed DP 6.01, downloaded and installed Waves 5.97.
We launched DP, record enabled 2 mono tracks, clicked Record and DP crashed. So it comes down to 2 things.. DP 6.01 is bad or Waves 5.97 is not compatible.
I wonder if Waves 6 might solve this issue. I'm a little hesitant to upgrade as it removes all previous Waves from the iLok and there's no Downgrading back to V5
Is there anyone using V6 with DP? If so, Do you have any issues?
Thanks Jon

Hi Jon. I'm running DP 6.0 and 6.01 with Waves 6 with absolutely no problems on my G5. Running Tiger, 10.4.11.

Have you tried it with Leopard 10.5? I made the leap today and paid the WUP to upgrade to V6. I hope this solves the issue. I will post my results.
Thanks./
Thanks./

Reports have been suggesting Tiger is the better OS for the PPC.
Although I'm just breaking into DP6.01, I am sticking with Tiger (10.4.11) on my Quad G5.

YES! PPC and Tiger is the way to go. Stay away from Leopard if you have a PPC!

Re: Questions DP 6.01 and Waves 6
Well I think I made some progress.
After going through the headaches of upgrading Waves to V6 and the problems getting the iLok authorized it was time for the big test.
I created a test sequence with 8 mono tracks with each track loaded with 4 Waves plugins and a Speakerphone plugin. I record enabled all tracks, hit record.
So far all good.. While in record I started inserting plugins on the Master. C4, L2, IR1 Full, EQ. to see if I could cause a crash. And to my surprise no problems.
No slowdown and No Crash.
I also installed Tiger on another Drive with DP 6.01 and Waves 6 and did the same test. The only issue was a slowdown inserting plugins on the Master while in Record. No crashes
Fingers crossed..
Thanks Jon

I spoke too soon.. crashed again without plugins on any track.
Leopard and PPC seems to be the weak link as others say..
Back to Tiger
