Miles'tone - trumpet VI. Any comments?

I was just nuzzling through some websites and found this trumpet VI, circa 2007.

All you trumpet experts, anyone have an opinion? [about the trumpet, I mean. ]

Shockingly bad. There was so much hype before this long-delayed product came out, that it could only disappoint.

If not for the product name, I'm not sure I'd know it was a trumpet .

Sample Modeling's "The Trumpet" is King of the Hill right now, but it a bit pricey. Bear in mind it includes several instruments in the trumpet family though, and many different mutes (most sample libraries include one at most).

Arturia's eventual update to Brass may hold some promise as well.

demos usuually sound better than most people can actually get out of a library ,this sounds AWFUL
the mention of Miles in the name is insulting,actually offensive .

Shows you where my level of appreciation is at - I thought it sounded okay. But I'm not well-versed in brass VIs anyway. I do own KAB though and am finding that pretty decent.

Ah yes, I've heard a lot of good stuff about that one, but also thought I'd heard it had been recently canceled.

Too bad the MP3 audio demo links at that site are invalid. I'm not in the mood for downloading the separate ZIP links, as I'm about to start a DP session in a few minutes.

Oh, I see the two overall demos at the top DO work; just the ones focusing on the individual instruments are broken.

I would say Sample Modeling has surpassed this by a good deal, but of course they so far only have The Trumpet. The Kick Ass Brass collection seems to provide a fair number of articulations, but the timbre, especially of the saxes, seems off to me.

Nevertheless, it's worth comparing to Garritan Jazz and Big Band as a stop-gap for instruments not covered yet by the more advanced libraries from Sample Modeling et al.

I'm personally still dedicated to getting the best results that I can out of VSL. My primary struggle is in making it BC-friendly, but other than that, I am incrementally getting better. I am rarely able to run The Trumpet on my G4 iMac, so in cases where it crashes, I tend to substitute the Cornet from VSL, as it's a bit darker and can sort of sub for a fluegelhorn in jazz applications (my current priority at the moment, as I am wrapping up a soundtrack).

I have MilesTone on my PC, running as a VI inside V-Stack.

The timbre is okay, but the noise component is inaccurate, and there's a noticeable
"thunk" when triggering notes, almost like a bass guitar formant. Legato behavior is
rather poorly implemented. The "virtual" room positioning does work fairly convincingly.
Overall grade from me - C.

MilesTone is still availabe. Not one of his better efforts. Mr. Ray 73 MK II is the best
thing he's done. IMO it's just as good as Scarbee Rhodes. His Roland Space Echo emulation is
very good. The Electric Grand VI is not very good. You'll find better electric grands in hardware
workstations, especially the Yamaha Motif XS.

I've been trying to locate downloads of his old Mr. Ray 22 and Mr. Tramp, which are Rhodes and Wurlitzer
emulations, respectively. No luck. I still have those, because I saved their .dll's onto CD's. I think that
they're both excellent, Mr. Ray 22 is just a shade less cool than Mr. Ray 73 Mk II.
