Sounds reasonable, Grimster.

FWIW, and I realise DP's probably been rewritten this time 'round, I did encounter one issue when tweaking v5's UI last year. In the TO, once the background was darkened past a critical point, and this seemed to apply equally to all colours, it became more difficult to select data "blocks" with the cursor. Clicking around the general area for a few seconds worked in some cases, but the basic procedure of click-selecting track data was certainly compromised. Intuitively, it seemed that DP was analysing the gamma/darkness of the selected pixel/s as a means of determining whether track data or empty space was being selected. The solution was obvious - just back off a bit. DP's apparent tolerance of a wide range of values reinforced the feeling that it was cleverly/conservatively programmed though.

The most obvious implication of this "system" DP seemed to employ as far as tweaking was concerned was that one couldn't, for instance, reverse a dark-on-light text/data region to appear as light on dark. Unfortunately, this prevented my being able to darken (for example) the mixer to the extent I'd have liked without rendering the insert and send wells difficult to read.

The bottom line here is that, for all the messing about I did (probably half a dozen skins with many component variations of each), DP's stability was not in any way affected. The data-selection issue revealed that the graphic elements enjoyed no critical ties to under-the-hood functionality, but rather that they were merely gates or entry points (probably a layer beneath I/O or something in programmer speak) to the app itself.

Aha! And a month later, I'm back again. Woohoo!
Yeah... I love you too, Mike, and that's no bull.*

I must've done something wrong. I installed the 2.1mod, but now I don't have any fonts in my solo/mute/rec buttons. How can I fix this?
I tried to include an image of the mixer, but I'm not really sure how to include the screen grab. Please help me with this also, in case I have to do it again. I tried to copy the image, and paste it here, but it didn't work.

I think that is because you went from Amplidood's GUI MOD to this one? Reinstall DP and then add this mod and it should be ok.

There's no danger in doing any of this. You can make as many copies of the DP app as you like with different names and completely different mods. Just make a dupe of your original before modding anything...you can go back to it at any time. I have several copies with different verions of mods in progress on my drive, and have suffered zero ill effects as a result.

No protective eyewear or clothing required. Wait, I didn't mean do it while naked..... :D

I thought so. As a matter of fact, I was going to try the direct install on my MBP this morning. I had not installed the mod on it yet. Thanks for the help.

As far as playing with fire, it's ironic that you should use that picture. I had Kidney surgery two weeks ago from which I almost didn't wake up.... But I struggled and managed to breathe again. Sometimes, the unexpected happens and although I can't re-install my life, I can always re-install DP6, that's the easy part. The hard part was getting rid of DP5 so I wouldn't keep returning to it every time I got frustrated with the new DP. If the mods make a product better, then I'm all for it!
The install disk is the fire truck........ Jumping off a bridge with a rubber band tied to you..... Now That's Fire!!!!!!!!!!!

Yo Amplidood, Thanks for the mods! Keep em coming. I want to combine the mods so I can get what's comfortable for me. Heck, after learning Logic 7, then switching to Logic 8, nothing really scares me any more...........

Amplidood is 100% correct IMHO, FWIW. I ran several copies of DP5 with various mods, picking and choosing as I went along. I saved the 5.11 and 5.13-modded applications to my DP update folders too, so there was always the option of unzipping the app and copying it across rather than having to re-install. That reminds me - I kept the mods in the DP folder alongside the factory copy in zipped form; this prevented accidental running of the "wrong" version. Zero issues.

Sacknell, if there's anything I know intimately, it's pain, and thus my heart goes out to you man. Here's hoping you recover fully and reasonably quickly, eh? Good luck; you've a monkey in your corner. I don't know whether this is an advantage or not, but you have one nevertheless. IMHO, everyone should have a monkey in his corner - beats keeping it on your back.

Thanks guys! Didn't mean to turn this into Dear Abby.......... But, I didn't even know about DP5 mods. I guess I better pay more attention when 'da monkey' speaks......

Truth be told, sacknell, it wasn't discussed much on the board except for the odd occasion when Timeline posted a pic for some reason or other and somebody invariably commented on his use of colour. I remember one fella actually thinking that a pic must've been a PS mock-up. I said nothing about my own tweaks, and Timeline and I decided to keep the whole thing quiet in case the Gods of MOTU came down on us.

That said though, if you do choose to "pay more attention when 'da monkey' speaks", remember that lustful frenzies of sampling of my speech will likely breach copyright law, as most of what I say is timeless and indeed constitutes a trail of breadcrumbs that chronicles history as it happens.
