How Long does it take DP6 to open

I've just moved up from DP3.11 on a G3 (circa 1998) to DP6 on a Mac Pro 3.0. Its takes about 3 minutes for the program to load up. Is that the normal amount of time? I'm used to my old software opening up much faster. The reason I'm concerned is because I brought the Mac Pro refurbished, so for any little thing that goes wrong or doesn't seem right I worry that it may be because I bought a refurbished Mac instead of a new one. Maybe I'm expecting to much since I haven't had a new computer in 10 years

Three minutes is too long, unless it was the first time, and DP was validating your plugins.

no I don't have a lot of plug ins, only the antares Vox package, auto tune and BBE sonic max

Run Disk Utility in your Utilities folder, and click on Repair Permissions. It will clean up any errors that may have accumulated in the access permissions of your files.

How much free space do you have? Sounds like you may have a nearly full or highly fragmented drive. Run Disk Utility off the OSX System installation disk. Boot the machine with the disk in the drive while holding the 'c' key. Do a Verify and Repair while using the installation disk boot up. If this doesn't help, you may need a third party app like TechToolPro, DiskWarrior, or DriveGenius.
