Timing hiccup just for muting a MIDI track?

Post by Skippybog »

DP6 issue...le sigh,

Timing has temporary lag/dropout when toggling between play enable/disable of MIDI tracks during playback. If no audio tracks or virtual instruments are running, this does not happen. Audio does not even need to be playing (i.e., at the end of a sequence after all data has played). Is this typical behavior?

It sounds as if you have the "Mute Frees System Resources" preference checked. See if it's on. If it is, uncheck it and see if that was the cause.

That's right; when Mute Frees System Resources is on, it takes a moment to process that. It's always been the case. But if DP's pausing for a plain mute, then THAT would be reason to grumble!

If unchecking that preference fixes your problem, it would be nice is you add to the title of your thread something like: "SOLVED" at the end.

Sadly, I don't think this is the solution, because I believe that preference was removed circa DP5?

(thread discussing the matter)

However, I am reminded to try trashing some preferences, and will give that a go when I'm back at that computer again later today.

Thanks for the suggestions, and I'll post if i get any results.
