This is a well documented prob in the Windows world and is related to one or all of the following:
make sure your Firewire drivers are updated on both your system and 896
another FW device attached to the system that is interrupting the connection
Using a Texas Instruments Chipset based FW card

Fanks for reply.
I tried anable and disable all adats ports(Motu recomendated this too), but this dont fix my problem.
Noice is constantly present even the 896 mk3 is not connect to any comps!
And no more answer from Motu...

Sorry about the problems. If you're really not having any luck you may want to read this thread:
http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=31518
It deals with Windows XP, but the symptoms you are describing are identical to the Windows issues. Perhaps there is some way of implementing the fixes but with the OSX equivalent.
I'd be willing to bet that is something about the FW-bus controllers for OSX (not anything to do with the MOTU unit).
