no output from 828MK3 and missing CueMix console

Post by tonester »

Whem I open the CueMix Console form the Start menu, I get the error code "No MOTU Audio Devices that support CueMix DSP found" this is under WinXP SP2.

I can open the CueMix FX, though. Is this the same thing?

And another issue, I can't seem to hear any recorded audio from the main outs. I can hear signals coming in just fine, so i must not have a setting correct in the CueMix. This is a little baffling!!!!

I just picked up 2 of these units for an installation and am having this same issue ie:I get the error code "No MOTU Audio Devices that support CueMix DSP found" this is under WinXP SP2.

As I see so many people seeming to have problems with the 828 mk3 and a PC with XP I am wondering if I should have done more research and gone to RME or even Mackie. Not a good introduction to MOTU. Hope I can get it sorted as otherwise it will be a very expensive mistake.

Well, I think patience is the key word here. This is not as "plug and play" as it would appear. Once I re-installed the drivers it seemed to work fine. It's actually a great unit, once you learn how to set up CueMix and learn all the routings. My issue now is that when I enable or disable the digital (ADAT) ins/outs in Sonar, ALL the drivers disappear, and I am left with nothing. I have to reboot, and re-profile the WDM drivers. Doesn't happen with ASIO, but my latencies aren't low enough for input monitoring. AARGH!!!!!

I'm not going to return it, but rather will try and work around the glitches. I'm wondering if the same problems exist in MAC land. I just get the impression that MOTU is geared more towards that platform, being that their DAW's are Mac based. I've also had graphics issues with ethno and MSI.

I have got the unit up and running now to some degree but still not without issues I have to figure out how to resolve.

My solution to the problem was to buy a Mac. Everything works fine now!

I hear ya ... my Ultralite took about 5 days to figure out to the point that I can actually use it. However, once you get the bugs worked out it's an incredible piece of equipement, especially for the price. Motu is definitely Mac oriented, but I think if we PC users just have some patience it's well worth it. I could buy SO much more gear for the price of a Mac, hehe.
