I just got a Motu mk3 828 firewire card. I got a Dell Dimension C521 computer, but it dosn't have a firewire input.
I bought the mk3 828 and a PCI control card so I could get firewire. First problem, the PCI card didn't fit to my computer. I then called Dell, they couldn't help me at all. I then called a big computer shop, and the only thing I got suggested was to buy a HUB. I bought a Goodway hub with 4 USB2.0 and 3 Firewire inputs, wich you connect to the computer trough USB and get power trough its own electrisity-cable.
Plugged in the Motu CD, innstalled the driver for Firewire/USB2, 32-bit. Closed the computer, connected the firewire card to the Hub, (the hub was already connected, working), and then put the firewire card on. I then turned my computer on. Nothing happens. Dosnt work at all. If I try to press MOTU Audio Console or Cuemix FX, I get a message that says: "No Motu audio device could been found. Make sure your MOTU audio device is connected, powered on, and that the drivers are installed".....
Help .... Please ??:)

Re: Motu mk3 828 - installation problems !!
First question: are you using a laptop or a desktop computer?
It sounds like a disktop. I always thought the PCI slots were the same ( not pci-e, etc) So, if you have a card slot on the desktop, a PCI to firewire card should work (get TI chips on the card). Did you maybe try to fit two different types of PCI into each other (like PCI-e into PIC)
Does the firewire work with other equipment?
A couple of addition pieces of information: most all firewire audio devices want TI chips. What chips are on the hub you got?
next - it is usually suggested that when doing furewire audio through an aux card - just get firewire outs, not a combination of usb and firewire.
