Daisy chain 2x motu 828 mkIII

Post by Johnny81 »

OK here is the thing!

Installed my 828 mkIII and it works fine for me so far.
Now i daisy chained it my second 828 mkIII and then nothing works anymore.

Things start to crash and it looks like it just won't work together.
In the manual they say it is possible.........

anyone got some experience whit this problem?

I am daisy chaining 2 896s. I have not thoroughly tested the setup (had the 2nd one for a few days). But so far everything that I have tried works. What specifically does not work for you?

These are fire wire units right?

Yup welcome to my nightmare. I have two of the first generation 896's and they worked beautifully on my old P4C800 based system which was running XP Pro SP1. I've since updated to a brand new quad core system and can only get one 896 to work. As soon as the second one is started, Cubase 4 brings up:

"An unknown error occurred in the MOTU Firewire ASIO driver."

I'm currently running MOTU's FIRST FW driver V3.0 as V3.6 (the newest) won't come close to working even for one unit... When V3.6 is installed all I get is a high pitched squeal that doesn't go away even if XP is idling with no programs running. In fact, it continues even if i power down the whole system but keep the 896s on.

Can you verify any of these similar symptoms? I've sent a PM to WYRN420 as well since my computer tech's told me that no one can get two 896s to work under an XP SP3 system.
