My favorite Stereoizer Sindo is $35 till 9/12

Post by James Steele »

Okay... just passing this along because I just was at Crysonic's site because I wanted to tell a friend about this Sindo plug and it turns out all Crysonic's plugs are 50% off right now and this is one of the best plugs for increasing stereo width I've heard (and not destroying mono compatibility) etc. It has more adjustments than I can possible understand, but this is seriously good and you owe it to yourself to hear the demo. For $35 it's a bargain

http://www.crysonic.com/sindo.html

P.S. I'm not affiliated with these folks in anyway... I just really like this plug.

Great price!
But if you don't mind spending a little bit more $$ for an even better, take a look at Sonalksis StereoTools. That is the best one i've tested so far! Will be released any day now.. i hope.

I have to say this is pretty darn great. Works great, and does not do anything to alter the mono state.

Way to pass this along, James, Thanks! :)

How much is a "little bit?" I've noticed that yes the Sonalksis stuff is good, but it's fairly pricey. So it's not released yet?

I'm guessing this is tounge in cheek? It's just an instant gratification fun plug to me. But yes, you can get creative and put it just on a backing vocal bus to make them be a bit more stereo spread if you wish. For $35, I like to just throw it on the master bus after UAD Precision Limiter and sneak it up just a little bit to increase the sense of soundstage. It's my "pseudo-mastering" if you will. I'm guessing there are purists who won't touch this stuff, but I'm not a purist and I like it just for one-off mixes and my own gratification.

I really don't know, but Sonalksis use to have low prices compared to others who makes plugs in similar quality. My guess is that it will be released in the end of next week or in the beginning of the week after.. just a guess. :)

Is there really any other gratification when it comes to music ?
Creativity, some digital stuff and analogue things that go boom. crackle, bits of wood with strings on them that go twang

I instantly used it on an acoustic guitar track that was mic'd with the X/Y technique, which does not give the largest stereo spread recording. It is in stereo, yes, but put this plug on and give it a boost and it opens up the middle a bit more for the lead vocal and increases the guitar's size for the benefit of the song.

Small victories make big differences. :)

Does anyone have an opinion on how this compares to the Waves Stereo imaging plugin?

James, do you know what the hi and lo shuffle do?

I agree that it is a very enjoyable thing to play around with and does the job quickly.

Not a clue. Is there a PDF that comes with it that explains it? I haven't searched my drive for a manual. There might be an online reference. Sorry I dont' have a better answer. All I've been doing is throwing it across the master and inching the main control up to 1.20 or thereabouts. I try and back it down so that it's subtle and I have to bypass back and forth to hear it. Seems you can go lower than 1.0 and it actually reduces the stereo effect and makes it more mono as well.

The only thing I could find was this sentence from the ReadMe:

"Two Phase-compensated ' Hi and Low Shufflers ' are also included to further enhance and improve the spaciousness without introducing unwanted artifacts. "

I have absolutely no-idea what that means. Clearly the Shufflers work on the high and lo frequencies, but what is meant by "shuffling?" Randomly assigning frequencies to different channels?

Yeah I find the knobs a bit mystifying. I emailed them regarding a manual, no answer yet.
