A note cracking with German Grand Piano ?

A note cracking with German Grand Piano ?
Hi all,
When I play a B2 with Vel 1 of the German Grand Piano of MachFive2 (DVD2), I can hear a
soft cracking on the left side.
I also hear it if I play a A2 with Vel 1 while sustain pedal on.
Anybody got such a noise ? Or is it my sample wich is corruped ?
If it's it's my sample, is it possible to reinstall only the piano DVD of M5 ?
Thanks
Best regards
Christophe

Re: A note cracking with German Grand Piano ?
I just tried it and didn't hear a problem, but I have heard some noises in other instruments (oboe, I think - or is it French Oboe?)
Reloading the file may solve it, unless it was a defective disk.

Curious,
Somebody on the MOTU MAC list just wrote that he got exactly the same problem…
Could it be only a coincidence ? Read :
• Who knows how to do that without completely reinstalling the huge M5 II ?
Thanks

Anyway I'd like to reinstall just this piano or only the the DVD2 in the case it'd come from a sample copy.I have the same problem. Too bad as I am working on a mix using that
exact patch and the track is in A major.
I was wondering whether it might be the sample for the sus pedal
release but I have yet to have the time to do any troubleshooting.

Just insert DVD 2 and re-copy the UFS file from the DVD to your hard drive.BERLY wrote:Anyway I'd like to reinstall just this piano or only the the DVD2 in the case it'd come from a sample copy.

If that doesn't solve it, try stretching surrounding keygroups to cover the affected area.
- Load the piano preset
- Choose Save Preset As (just makes a new preset, samples are not copied)
- Find the offending keygroup and delete it
- Edge-edit the keygroup boundaries of the surrounding keygroups to cover the empty area
"I don't see any method at all, sir."

This is a long shot, but could it possibly be some kind of "resonance" related to your audio interface? Is the guy who has the same problem using the same interface? I've never heard of anything like that before, but I sometimes blame my FW410 for problem samples (only because I can't find the real culprit.)
Just a thought, albeit not a great one...

Thanks all,
I've reinstaled the PIANO DVD.
It did not solved the problem.
The little noise is still audible on the B2 played softly (vel 1)
I suppose it should be the same for everybody… but it seems you cannot reproduce it.
It's a very little noise. On the left side. Only when the B2 is played softly.
I could't hear it in a mix, but on piano solo, I can hear it when I listen carefully.
The little noise is the same with M5 used in stand alone mode.
Thanks

No it doesn't. I'm sure it comes from M5 and onlu from this note played with this velocity.it possibly be some kind of "resonance" related to your audio interface?

I'm not an expert with this kind of job. I didn't find how to do that- Find the offending keygroup and delete it

Maybe we just can't hear itBERLY wrote: I suppose it should be the same for everybody… but it seems you cannot reproduce it.

Seriously, if it is there and I believe you as I have heard similar things in other MachFive instruments as well as PSP samples) there has to be a cause.
Can you post an MP3 somewhere and maybe normalize it so the sound is louder? I'd like to hear what is coming out of your system.
TIA.

Hi TIA,
You can download a short mp3 at this link.
http://www.studio-slc.com/transfert/GermanGrand.mp3
You'll hear :
3 x B2 played at Vel 11, wich is in the first stage of velocity in M5
1 x B2 played at VEl 65, wich is in the second stage of velocity in M5 (no noise)
2 x A2 played at Vel 44, wich is in the first stage of velocity in M5 (no noise)
2 x A2 played at Vel 44, wich is in the first stage of velocity in M5, wich the SUSTAIN PEDAL
The other notes of the piano works fine.
I have the same bug with the GermanGrandSoft piano, wich uses the same samples.
Thanks
Best regards
Christophe

Re: A note cracking with German Grand Piano ?
Definitely hear it. Can you defeat aftertouch on your keyboard and in M5? It sounds a lot like when a controller sends data (also like a single click of zipper noise). I wonder if there is a little data being sent since it is right at the top and not at a loop point. It may well be the sample, of course, but since you're so deep into the problem at this point, I thought I'd mention the data issue as a possibility.

Re: A note cracking with German Grand Piano ?
I'd just like to say that as a rock guitar player and singer and a terrible keyboardist, I've never played a note below a velocity of 12 on purpose in my life.
It's just all those little notes when I clumsily graze a key adjacent to the one I wanted to play...
I tells ya... yo guys who practiced your Hannon exercises!

The noisy notes in the PIANO / VOICE song I'm mixing are about vel 50 or 60. It corresponds to a vel 1 of the M5 samples piano.
The mp3 exemple I gave is just an exemple.
I am sorry for my explanations were not good enough. My english is bad, I' m only a french… you know.

You know I like French people of course! I only kid. Why what about all the wonderful food for starters?
I was only making a joke about my poor keyboard ability. Although MIDI velocity 50 has worked it's way into my limited dynamic range of playing before.
