Hey all,
I just bought a MOTU 8pre (that I love) to replace a Presonus Firestudio Project (that I had nothing but trouble with). I was curious if anyone knows a way to have complete control over a headphone preamp so that I could have separate mixes in different headphones. I think some Presonus gear has that feature available in their interfaces with software, but haven't seen any way to do that with the MOTU (especially since there are only 2 outs for monitors). Any help would be appreciated...thanks

Re: Newbie question about headphone preamps
Yeah, I like my 8Pre too, but my 828mkII has the analog outputs so you can run 4 monitor mixes through CueMix. I don't think there's a way with the 8Pre to do more than two (phones out, main outs) and it may be that the phones mirror the mains. I really haven't used the 8Pre by itself, just have it lightpiped into the 828. Of course, you could always buy an 828mkIII and have the CueMIx with effects to run 4 monitor mixes with, that would be cool. And you get 10 more analog inputs.
My 2¢.
