2nd day w/ DP 6....
Love the Track Inspector!
LOVE the vertical zoom in Track window!
Getting used to the look. Doesn't seem so bright now. Dark purple meters seem un-eye-friendly. Not sure I like them, esp. in Audio Monitor window. Don't know yet. Haven't recorded audio yet.
I don't like that when you pop a window out of the consolidated window, it maintains its tab. This takes up, extra, unnecessary vertical screen real estate. Why do I need both a title bar AND a tab telling me the name of the window? In DP 5 I was religiously addicted to popping out the Audio Performance window and placing it at the top next to the transport. Now I can't do this and be able to see all the meters, because I've got both a tab and a title bar on the window and the window takes up too much vertical space.
Drumcore checks out OK.
EZ Drummer checks out OK. However, the first time I tried to drag a MIDI file from EZD into DP, I got a "unexpected quit" crash. This NEVER happened w/ DP 5.
Two days, two crashes like this just doing simple things (last time it was stepping back through undo history, w/ only like 4 items in the history). Never EVER have crashes like this in DP 5.
Next, I created a simple sequence using Electric Keys, EZDrummer, and BassLine. All went smoothly, except...
Possible stuck notes with BassLine VI.
Try this. Record a short track with the Analog> PM Finger Bass preset. Play back your track to listen to it. Now drag the wiper with audible mode active. Now play back your track again. Does it seem like there is stuck note? Something gets hosed. Happens with other presets too, but I was mainly working w/ PM Finger Bass preset. Once things get hosed like this, it happens w/ any preset. The only way I can find to fix it is to deinstantiate and reinstantiate BassLine.
I haven't had stuck notes or used BassLine much in the past so I can't be sure what to call this (maybe it's not stuck notes), but it definitely seems like a bug. It's not that the note continues to sound like a car horn that won't stop (that is what I would call a stuck note). It's like the last note sounded when I dragged the wiper never received a note off. So when I now play the mono BassLine instrument, every time I release a note it's like that "stuck" (never got a note off) note is being held down. Say the note is C3. It's like every note I play is now followed by a C3. 100% reproducible. Can someone check this out?
Steps to reproduce:
1. Record a track w/ BassLine
2. Drag wiper over track w/ audible mode active.
3. Play notes in BassLine.
4. Now every note you play is followed by whatever was the last note to sound when you dragged the wiper.
That's it for today's installment.
Best,
Babz

Thanks for the report. Babz. Have you tried clicking on the little oval goober in the upper right corner? That will collapse the tab, I think...could be wrong.

I agree with Babz here, the tabs on the mixer and the effects windows waste screen space and are redundant. And if you click on the blob in the right hand corner to get rid of the tab you lose access to the mini-menus. In the mixer this means not having access to the 'attach MIDI controller' function, which still doesn't have a key command. So the options seem to be to waste space or lose access to features, inexplicable indeed. So I think the tabs could go, or keep the mini-menus when the tabs are collapsed. And a keyboard command for 'attach MIDI controller' would be nice, because menu-scrolling is tedious.

Hmm. I see your point. I wasn't at my main computer (the one with DP) when I posted that, so I was working from memory. Now that I've tried it, I see the problem and have to agree. The redesigned GUI has some great features, but some blunders as well.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the menus are not lost, pacquito. I think the answer is to command or option-click the collapse button, depending upon which menu you intend to see.

Actually you control-click the blob to access the mini-menu. Which is usually the equivalent of right-clicking, but that doesn't work. doh!
